Lewis Hamilton topped the timing sheets at the 2026 F1 British GP FP1 in the one and only practice session for the weekend, see the full British GP FP1 results below.
Going into the weekend, Kimi Antonelli continues to lead the drivers’ championship, with a 50-point lead over teammate George Russell. Russell outscored his teammate last time around after winning the Austrian GP. Will Russell be able to continue to close the gap on the young Italian at Silverstone?
The British GP is also the home race for five drivers on the grid – Lando Norris, George Russell, Lewis Hamilton, Ollie Bearman and Arvid Lindblad. All of these drivers will be looking to impress in front of their home crowd.
Hulkenberg was noted by the stewards for impeding Lawson, who was on a flying lap. Verstappen was also noted for a yellow flag infringement; however, no further investigation took place.
As the soft tyres came on, the lap times came tumbling down. All drivers were looking to try out some qualifying-style laps ahead of Sprint Qualifying later today. With only one practise session for the weekend, there was a lot to fit into the hour-long session.
It was Hamilton who set the fastest lap during FP1. Antonelli and Leclerc rounded out the top three. Last year’s winner, Lando Norris, struggled to find the pace and finished FP1 in P7. Other home heroes will also be looking for better results later on today. Russell finished P4, Linblad P13 and Bearman P14. Stroll found himself at the back of the field, needing to find a lot of improvement before Sprint Qualifying.
It is all to play for later today, when the drivers hit the track for Sprint Qualifying at the British GP.
