The historic Silverstone circuit hosted a race of 52 laps through its 5.891km. The starting grid was led by Kimi Antonelli and Charles Leclerc. Just behind, their teammates Hamilton and Russell. The top 10 was completed by Hadjar, Norris, Verstappen, Piastri, Lindblad, and Lawson.
On Saturday, cars competed in the Sprint Race, which finished with Antonelli, Hamilton, and Norris in the top 3. Antonelli arrived at Sunday’s main race wanting a repeat. While even from the second row, eyes were also set on Ferrari’s Hamilton, who holds a record number of wins in a single circuit in his home GP.
Both Ferraris had a great start, quickly overtaking the F1 2026 championship leader, Antonelli, who fell to third. Surprisingly, after a bad run of races, it was Leclerc who led, as the grid behind reorganized after a messy first lap.
As Antonelli hunted down Leclerc, he suddenly suffered front suspension problems, having to go through the pits twice and falling to P10. As the Italian pushed to get to the finish line, Verstappen spun into the gravel causing a safety car which led the pack to the checkered flag.
By the end, Leclerc’s new driving approach, which he introduced for the British GP, seemed to work. The Monegasque left Silverstone having beaten Hamilton and scoring his first win since 2024.
