Round 9 of the 2026 F1 season has been completed at the British GP at Silverstone, view the full championship standings here.
Heading into the race, Kimi Antonelli knew he could continue to lead the championship even if he did not finish. He held a 43-point lead over the George Russell before the 52-lap contest, with Lewis Hamilton a further four behind. Mercedes were also hoping to extend their lead in the Constructors’ Championship over Ferrari.
The Italian youngster started on pole, with Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton right behind him in the Ferraris. Russell went off from P4 as Mercedes and Ferrari looked to be favourites like the Sprint.
Isack Hadjar, Lando Norris, Max Verstappen and Oscar Piastri completed spots 5-8 on the grid as Red Bull and McLaren battled for third best.
Racing Bulls continued their awesome form as Arvid Lindblad and Liam Lawson locked out the fifth row for Racing Bulls. Alpine and Audi were looking for some misfortune in front to get into the points.
Haas and Williams needed a very chaotic race to get themselves inside the top 10 as they were struggling with the high-speed stuff at Silverstone.
At the back of the field, Cadillac and Aston Martin were looking to bag valuable mileage as the Silverstone-based squad faced a very tough home race.
