Gabriele Minì retained the lead of the 2026 FIA Formula 2 Drivers’ Championship after finishing third in the F2 Sprint Race at the Monaco GP, while Noel León’s controlled victory lifted him to second in the standings. The Campos Racing driver converted reverse-grid pole into his second Sprint Race win of the season, finishing ahead of DAMS Lucas Oil’s Roman Bilinski and MP Motorsport’s Minì.
The result also reshaped the Teams’ Championship. Campos Racing moved to the top of the standings on 79 points, four clear of MP Motorsport, while Rodin Motorsport remained third after Martinius Stenshorne added points with sixth place.
León takes victory as Minì strengthens championship lead
León started from reverse-grid pole alongside Bilinski, with Minì lining up third and Joshua Dürksen fourth. At lights out, León made a clean getaway and held the lead into Sainte Dévote, while Bilinski retained second and Minì settled into third.
Although Bilinski kept León within DRS range during the early stages, the Campos Racing driver gradually pulled clear in the closing laps. León eventually crossed the line first, with Bilinski taking his maiden F2 podium in second and Minì completing the top three.
As a result, Minì moved to 63 points at the top of the Drivers’ Championship. León’s victory lifted him to 43 points, leaving him 20 points behind the MP Motorsport driver.
Stenshorne stays third as Câmara and Tsolov limit the damage
Stenshorne remains third in the Drivers’ Championship after finishing sixth in the Monaco Sprint Race. The Rodin Motorsport driver now has 38 points, keeping him just ahead of Rafael Câmara, who sits fourth on 37.
Câmara picked up the final Sprint Race point after finishing eighth for Invicta Racing. While the Brazilian lost second place in the standings to León, he remains firmly in the early title fight. Meanwhile, Nikola Tsolov completed the top ten in the Sprint Race and sits fifth in the championship on 36 points.
Laurens van Hoepen failed to score after finishing 19th following a 10-second penalty for leaving the track and gaining an advantage. He therefore remains sixth in the standings on 33 points.
DAMS gains ground with Bilinski and Beganovic
DAMS Lucas Oil enjoyed one of the strongest team performances of the Sprint Race. Bilinski finished second to score eight points, while Dino Beganovic took fifth to add four more.
That result moved Beganovic to 28 points in the Drivers’ Championship, keeping him eighth overall. Bilinski also climbed to 17th with 10 points after securing his first F2 podium.
Meanwhile, Dürksen finished fourth on the road and moved to 21 points in the standings. However, the Invicta Racing driver will face a five-place grid penalty for the Feature Race after the stewards found that he could not comply with the tyre requirements under Article 24.15 of the FIA Formula 2 Sporting Regulations.
Miyata penalised but keeps P11
Ritomo Miyata finished 11th on the road and retained that position despite receiving a 10-second time penalty for causing a collision with Oliver Goethe. The stewards judged the Hitech driver wholly responsible for the contact, which forced Goethe to pit and eventually retire from the race.
Miyata remains ninth in the Drivers’ Championship on 22 points, while Goethe stays 16th on 12 points after leaving Monaco’s Sprint Race without adding to his tally.

Monaco tightens the early championship picture
The Monaco Sprint Race strengthened Minì’s advantage at the top of the Drivers’ Championship, but León’s victory turned the Campos Racing driver into his closest challenger. With Stenshorne, Câmara and Tsolov separated by only two points from third to fifth, the fight behind Minì remains extremely close.
Meanwhile, Campos Racing’s move to the top of the Teams’ Championship adds another layer to the weekend. MP Motorsport still has Minì leading the Drivers’ standings, but Campos now controls the team battle ahead of Sunday’s Feature Race.
