Ugo Ugochukwu retained the lead of the 2026 FIA Formula 3 Drivers’ Championship following the Feature Race at the Belgian GP. However, his advantage over Freddie Slater fell from 18 points to just one.
The Campos Racing driver finished 20th and failed to score for the second time during the Spa-Francorchamps weekend. Meanwhile, Slater recovered from a difficult start to finish third, increasing his total from 86 to 103 points.
Ernesto Rivera claimed victory after charging through from fourth on the grid. The Campos Racing driver added 25 points and climbed seven positions to fifth in the championship.
Hiyu Yamakoshi finished second and moved to 54 points, while Maciej Gładysz collected 10 points in fifth and also reached 54. Taito Kato, Tuukka Taponen, Jin Nakamura, Alessandro Giusti and Noah Strømsted completed the points-paying positions.
The final classification accounted for several track-limits penalties. Brando Badoer’s five-second penalty dropped him from 10th to 14th, promoting Giusti and Strømsted into ninth and 10th respectively.
Ugochukwu retains 2026 F3 Championship lead by one point
Ugochukwu entered Sunday’s Feature Race with 104 points and an 18-point advantage over Slater.
The Campos Racing driver made progress during the early stages and moved as high as ninth following the Safety Car restart. However, he struggled to remain inside the points and gradually fell down the order.
Ugochukwu eventually crossed the line in 20th and remained on 104 points.
Slater started from pole position but dropped behind Taponen and Yamakoshi following a slow launch. He recovered to pass Taponen and then Yamakoshi, briefly reclaiming the race lead.
However, Rivera overtook him on Lap 12 before Yamakoshi also moved ahead as Slater’s tyres began to fade. The TRIDENT driver resisted pressure from Gładysz and Mattia Colnaghi during the closing laps to secure third.
Slater added 17 points to his championship total, moving from 86 to 103. Consequently, he heads to the Hungaroring only one point behind Ugochukwu.
Naël remains third as Strømsted closes the gap
Théophile Naël remained third in the Drivers’ Championship despite failing to score.
The Campos Racing driver suffered front-wing and tyre damage during the opening lap following contact involving Kato and Ugochukwu. He was forced to pit and eventually finished 15th.
Naël therefore remains on 65 points. His deficit to Slater increased from 21 to 38 points, while Strømsted moved closer to him in fourth.
Strømsted inherited 10th place after Badoer’s penalty and collected one point. The TRIDENT driver increased his total from 58 to 59 and now sits six points behind Naël.
Rivera climbs seven places after maiden Feature Race victory
Rivera recorded the largest move among the leading championship contenders after claiming his first F3 Feature Race victory.
The Campos Racing driver started fourth and joined the fight at the front following the early Safety Car period. He passed Taponen for third before moving ahead of Yamakoshi, despite losing part of his front-wing endplate during their battle.
Rivera then used DRS to overtake Slater for the lead on Lap 12 and immediately created a gap at the front. He remained ahead for the rest of the race and secured the full 25 points.
The victory increased Rivera’s total from 31 to 56 points. He climbed from 12th to fifth and now sits three points behind Strømsted and nine behind Naël.
Gładysz and Yamakoshi draw level on 54 points
Gładysz climbed from eighth to sixth after finishing fifth in the Feature Race.
The ART Grand Prix driver moved into the fight for the podium during the closing stages and challenged Slater alongside Colnaghi. Although he could not move ahead, fifth place earned him 10 points.
Gładysz increased his total from 44 to 54 points, leaving him two behind Rivera.
Yamakoshi also reached 54 points after finishing second.
The Van Amersfoort Racing driver took the lead from Taponen on the opening lap and remained among the leading group throughout the race. Although Slater and Rivera moved ahead during the middle phase, Yamakoshi reclaimed second from Slater on Lap 13.
His 18-point haul lifted him from ninth to seventh. Gładysz holds sixth ahead of Yamakoshi on countback.
Badoer, Del Pino and Clerot fall down the standings
Badoer, Bruno Del Pino and Pedro Clerot all lost championship positions after failing to score.
Badoer initially finished 10th but received a five-second penalty for exceeding track limits on four occasions. The sanction dropped him to 14th and left him on 50 points.
He fell from fifth to eighth in the Drivers’ Championship, two points behind Yamakoshi.
Del Pino finished 11th and narrowly missed the points. The Van Amersfoort Racing driver remains on 49 points but dropped from sixth to ninth.
Clerot finished 12th and remained on 48 points. Rivera, Gładysz and Yamakoshi all moved ahead of him, dropping the Rodin Motorsport driver from seventh to 10th.
Kato adds nine points but drops to 11th
Kato scored nine points following a sixth-place finish.
The ART Grand Prix driver was involved in the opening-lap incident with Naël but continued without requiring a pit stop. He remained inside the points and crossed the line behind Gładysz.
Kato increased his championship total from 36 to 45 points. However, the significant gains made by Rivera, Gładysz and Yamakoshi pushed him from 10th to 11th.
Nakamura followed his Sprint Race victory with eighth place in the Feature Race. The Hitech driver added four points and moved from 35 to 39, although he dropped from 11th to 12th in the standings.
Taponen draws level with Deligny
Taponen added six points after finishing seventh for MP Motorsport.
The Finnish driver took the lead at the start before Yamakoshi overtook him on the Kemmel Straight. He remained in the leading group but lost further positions to Slater, Rivera, Colnaghi and Gładysz.
Taponen increased his total from 22 to 28 points and remains 14th. He is now level with 13th-placed Enzo Deligny, who holds the higher position on countback.
Deligny failed to score after receiving a five-second track-limits penalty. He finished 25th and remained on 28 points.
Colnaghi climbs five positions after fourth place
Colnaghi made the largest move in the lower half of the championship after finishing fourth.
The MP Motorsport driver started fifth and remained close to the podium positions throughout the race. He passed Taponen following the Finnish driver’s mistake at La Source before joining the late battle with Slater and Gładysz.
Colnaghi collected 12 points and increased his total from eight to 20. He climbed from 21st to 16th and drew level with Gerrard Xie, who remains ahead on countback.
Giusti also made progress after Badoer’s penalty promoted him to ninth. The MP Motorsport driver collected two points, increased his total from 15 to 17 and moved ahead of Louis Sharp into 18th.

Ugochukwu leads Slater by one point, while Naël sits another 38 points behind in third. Rivera’s victory lifted him to fifth, with only six points separating Strømsted in fourth and Yamakoshi in seventh.
Campos Racing extends Teams’ Championship advantage
Campos Racing extended its lead in the Teams’ Championship after Rivera secured victory.
Rivera collected all 25 of the team’s Feature Race points, with Ugochukwu and Naël finishing outside the top 10. Campos increased its total from 200 to 225 points.
TRIDENT scored 18 points through Slater and Strømsted. Slater contributed 17, while Strømsted added one following Badoer’s penalty.
The team moved from 151 to 169 points. Consequently, Campos extended its advantage over TRIDENT from 49 to 56 points.
Van Amersfoort Racing remains third
Van Amersfoort Racing strengthened its hold on third place through Yamakoshi’s second-place finish.
The Japanese driver scored all 18 of the team’s points after Del Pino and Rafael Câmara’s replacement, Ricardo Escotto, finished outside the top 10.
Van Amersfoort Racing increased its total from 113 to 131 points. It now sits 38 points behind TRIDENT and 21 ahead of ART Grand Prix.
ART Grand Prix overtakes Rodin for fourth
ART Grand Prix moved ahead of Rodin Motorsport following strong points finishes from Gładysz and Kato.
Gładysz earned 10 points in fifth, while Kato added nine in sixth. Their combined 19-point haul increased ART’s total from 91 to 110 points.
The team climbed from fifth to fourth, moving 12 points ahead of Rodin Motorsport.
Rodin failed to score after Clerot finished 12th, Badoer dropped to 14th following his penalty and Christian Ho completed the race in 24th. The team therefore remained on 98 points and fell to fifth.
MP Motorsport scores with all three drivers
MP Motorsport collected points with all three of its drivers for the second race in succession.
Colnaghi contributed 12 points in fourth, Taponen earned six in seventh and Giusti added two in ninth.
Their combined 20-point total moved MP Motorsport from 45 to 65 points. The team remains sixth but reduced its deficit to Rodin from 53 to 33 points.
Hitech moves clear of PREMA Racing
Nakamura provided Hitech with four points by finishing eighth.
The team increased its total from 37 to 41 points and moved four clear of PREMA Racing, which failed to score.
Sharp finished 16th, Wharton took 17th and José Garfias crossed the line in 22nd. PREMA therefore remains eighth on 37 points.
DAMS Lucas Oil and AIX Racing also failed to score and remain on 22 and 21 points respectively.
