Home hero Pascal Wehrlein started on pole alongside Taylor Barnard, who qualified just 0.026s behind the German. Citroën’s Nick Cassidy lined up in P3, while Joel Eriksson began from his career-best starting position in P4.
Further back, Jean-Éric Vergne and Zane Maloney lined up P5 and P6, respectively, while Felipe Durgovich started from P7. António Delix Da Costa, Nyck De Vries, and Edoardo Mortara closed off the top ten.
The 37-lap race began with a strong start from Barnard, who made his way up to the lead. Reigning World Champion Oliver Rowland suffered from a slow start, dropping to the back of the field. Drama struck on Lap 4 as De Vries and Cassidy made contact, leaving the Dutchman with damage and a second retirement of Season 12.
Maloney was first to serve the mandatory Attack Mode on Lap 14, as the rest of the Formula E grid followed. Meanwhile, Rowlands steadily made his way up to the top three.
On Lap 25, slight contact occurred between Maximilian Günther and Wehrlein, while Mitch Evans held an energy advantage, making a comeback from P17 to the E-Prix lead.
In the final moments, Race Control brought out a Full Course Yellow, bunching up the field, and leading to a final three-car battle for victory.
