Pascal Wehrlein claimed pole position for the penultimate race of Formula E Season 12 in London after leading Group A and then defeating Porsche Formula E Team teammate Nico Müller in an all-Porsche Duel Final. Wehrlein set a 1:07.587 to beat Müller by 1.143s and secure three championship points.

Earlier, Wehrlein topped Group A with a 1:09.149, narrowly ahead of Dan Ticktum, Jake Dennis and Jean-Éric Vergne. Müller led Group B with a 1:09.091 ahead of Mitch Evans, Joel Eriksson and António Félix da Costa, before both Porsche drivers progressed through the Duels to set up the final showdown.

Wehrlein and Mueller lead the charge into the Duels

The penultimate Qualifying session of Season 12 got underway at 10:40 local time in London, with Nissan Formula E Team’s Norman Nato setting the early pace in Group A. His initial 1:13.763 put him ahead of CUPRA KIRO’s Dan Ticktum, Porsche Formula E Team’s Pascal Wehrlein and Mahindra Racing’s Edoardo Mortara who topped FP2.

Wehrlein soon lowered the benchmark to 1:09.649, while race control placed Mahindra’s Nyck de Vries and Andretti Formula E Team’s Jake Dennis under investigation following a collision at Turn 19 in the opening minutes. Dennis briefly moved to the top with a 1:09.465, but Wehrlein and Ticktum quickly improved.

Wehrlein then posted a 1:09.208 before going faster again in the closing seconds with a 1:09.149. Ticktum ended Group A just 0.023s behind on a 1:09.172, with Dennis third and Citroën Racing’s Jean-Éric Vergne fourth.

Group B followed with Porsche Formula E Team’s Nico Müller setting the early competitive benchmark at 1:12.117, ahead of Jaguar Formula E Team’s António Félix da Costa. Müller then improved to 1:09.323 before Envision’s Joel Eriksson edged ahead with a 1:09.316.

However, Müller responded with a 1:09.091 to reclaim the top spot. Jaguar’s Mitch Evans improved late to second, finishing 0.137s behind, while Eriksson took third and da Costa displaced Envision’s Sébastien Buemi for fourth.

Wehrlein takes pole after competitive duels; Porsche locks out front row

The Duel Stages saw Barnard and Drugovich progress to the Final after both delivered strong runs through the Quarter Finals and Semi Finals. Ticktum first defeated Dennis in Quarter Final 1, setting a 1:107.533 while Martí finished 0.072s adrift. Wehrlein then beat Vergne by 0.254s after setting a 1:07.703, while Evans progressed past Eriksson with a 1:07.444, the fastest time of the Quarter Finals. Mueller completed the Semi Final line-up after defeating da Costa with a 1:07.709.

In the Semi Finals, Wehrlein produced a 1:107.446 to beat Ticktum by 2.679, while Mueller secured his place in the all-Porsche Final with a 1:07.517, beating Evans by +0.250.

In the Final, Mueller could not match his teammate Wehrlein’s pace. Wehrlein set a 1:07.587, beating Mueller by 1.143, securing pole position and the coveted three points.
