Brady Golan completed a perfect 2026 Formula Regional Americas Championship FRAC) weekend at Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS) by claiming pole position and winning all three races for Toney Driver Development.
Golan controlled Race 1 from the front before using well-timed restarts to overcome Evagoras Papasavvas in both Sunday contests. The results increased his season total to five victories and made him the first FRAC driver to sweep an entire race weekend in 2026.
Papasavvas remained Golan’s closest challenger, recovering from the back of the Race 1 grid to finish second before adding third and second-place results. Cooper Shipman secured two podiums, while Kekai Hauanio recovered from two difficult races to finish third in the finale. Meanwhile, Whitney Strickland, Anthony Autiello and Kevin Janzen shared the three Masters Cup victories.
Papasavvas narrowly leads Indianapolis Practice
Papasavvas established the opening benchmark during Friday morning’s 25-minute Practice session. The Crosslink Motorsports rookie completed the 2.439-mile Indianapolis road course in 1:22.445, edging Golan by only 0.020 seconds.
Hauanio followed in third with a 1:22.819, while Shipman placed fourth, another 0.070 seconds behind. Alejandro Bobadilla completed the top five ahead of Christian Bogle, Harbir Dass and local driver Luke Powers.
Autiello led the Masters Cup runners from 12th overall, with Strickland and Janzen following in 14th and 15th, respectively.

Golan responded during Qualifying and secured pole position for the second consecutive weekend. The Toney Driver Development driver recorded a 1:22.508, beating Shipman by 0.153 seconds.
Hauanio qualified third, 0.595 seconds away from pole, while Bogle placed fourth. Powers completed the top five ahead of Dass, Bobadilla and Lawley.
Strickland qualified fastest among the Masters Cup competitors from 12th overall. Autiello and Janzen followed, although officials removed Janzen’s fastest lap after he caused a suspension of the session.
Papasavvas failed to retain a Qualifying time and consequently started Race 1 from 15th, creating a significant recovery task for the driver who had led Practice.

Qualifying penalties

- Evagoras Papasavvas lost all his lap times for returning to the paddock during Qualifying under FRA Sporting Regulation 23.14. Stewards Decision 403 consequently placed him 15th on the grid without a valid time.

Golan controls Race 1 from pole position
Golan converted pole position into the lead as the lights went out on Saturday afternoon. Shipman retained second, while Bogle challenged the Kiwi Motorsport driver around the outside as they entered Turn 1.
The leading five settled into order with Golan ahead of Shipman, Bogle, Powers and Wolfe. However, Papasavvas immediately began his recovery and climbed nine positions to sixth before the end of the opening lap.
Papasavvas continued to move through the field as the uninterrupted race developed. He reached third before the halfway point and then began closing on Shipman. With four minutes remaining, he attacked at Turn 1 and completed the pass for second.
Nevertheless, Golan had already established an advantage of more than two seconds. He managed the remainder of the race and crossed the Yard of Bricks 2.686 seconds ahead of Papasavvas. Shipman completed the podium, while Bogle and Powers rounded out the top five.
Golan reflects on tyre management
After creating his early advantage, Golan focused on preserving the performance of his tyres through the second half of the race.
“It was a good drive,” said Golan after climbing from the car. “I tried to check out on the start, and did a pretty good job of it. Then, it was just managing tires the whole way through. I’m really proud of these [Toney Driver Development] guys—I’m happy to be able to bring a hometown win for them. The No. 40 car has been amazing all year, so I have to thank them for that. Also thanks to everybody at Marina and Saber Management group.”
The victory marked Golan’s third win of the season. Meanwhile, Papasavvas recorded the fastest lap with a 1:23.542, which secured pole position for Race 2.
Papasavvas charges from last to second
Papasavvas produced the most significant recovery of Race 1. After starting 15th, he reached sixth on the opening lap before continuing his progress through the field. His late pass on Shipman secured second place and completed a 13-position recovery. Moreover, his fastest lap placed him at the front of the grid for Sunday morning’s second race.
Shipman secured another podium in third, while Powers finished fifth during his first FRAC race at his home circuit. Hauanio placed sixth ahead of Bobadilla, Lawley, Wisniewski and Dass.
Strickland recovers to continue Masters Cup winning run
Strickland stalled at the start and dropped behind the other Masters Cup runners. However, the Hillenburg Motorsports driver recovered through the field and eventually finished 11th overall.
The result gave Strickland his seventh Masters Cup victory of the season and his first at Indianapolis. Autiello finished second in class, while Janzen completed the Masters Cup podium.
Strickland summarised the recovery that followed his difficult start.
“That was a pretty eventful race, actually,” said Strickland atop the podium. “This is my first series where I’ve done standing starts—I’ve been racing for decades, but these standing starts are killing me. I stalled out and then had to catch up to everybody. Thankfully, I was able to get it done. I’m looking forward to tomorrow—I’m an early morning kind of guy. You know, us 50 year olds, we like to wake up early, so this is going to be good tomorrow.”

The result remained provisional after officials ruled that Christian Bogle caused Kevin Janzen to spin. Bogle and Toney Driver Development appealed the decision, leaving the Round 9 classification subject to the National Court of Appeals’ ruling.
Papasavvas leads the opening stages of Race 2
Papasavvas started Race 2 from pole after recording the fastest lap during Saturday’s contest. Golan shared the front row, while Hauanio and Powers occupied the second row.
Papasavvas retained the lead at the start as Golan and Hauanio applied immediate pressure. Hauanio briefly overtook Golan for second, but a puncture forced him into the pits and removed him from the lead battle.
Consequently, Papasavvas and Golan established themselves at the front. Papasavvas controlled the majority of the race, but a late Safety Car erased his advantage and presented Golan with another opportunity.

Golan capitalises on the restart to claim a second victory
When racing resumed with seven minutes remaining, Golan timed his launch and attacked Papasavvas on the approach to Turn 1. He committed to the inside line, completed the pass and took the lead on lap 13.
Once ahead, Golan gradually created a small advantage. Behind him, Shipman completed an impressive recovery after starting eighth and moved into third before the final lap. Shipman then drew alongside Papasavvas as the white flag appeared. The pair fought throughout the final circuit before Shipman won the drag race to the Yard of Bricks by only 0.216 seconds.
Golan crossed the line 2.786 seconds ahead and became the first driver to win more than one FRAC race during a single weekend in 2026.
Golan praises his rivals after Race 2
Golan credited the clean competition between himself, Papasavvas and Shipman after securing his fourth victory of the season.
“We had a good fight throughout the whole race,” said Golan atop the podium. “I have tons of respect for both [Papasavvas and Shipman]. I know I said it before, and I’ll say it again: they race super clean. I’m really happy to come home with a win, especially in my team’s hometown. I think this is the first weekend that anyone has won two races in a single weekend, so I’m super proud of all the Toney Driver Development guys.”
Although Papasavvas lost second on the final lap, he secured his seventh podium from the opening nine races. Meanwhile, Shipman’s charge from eighth delivered another strong result for Kiwi Motorsport.
Autiello survives an attritional Masters Cup contest
The Masters Cup order changed repeatedly during Race 2. Early contact removed Strickland from contention, while Janzen inherited the class lead. However, a mechanical problem forced Janzen into the pits shortly after the halfway point. Autiello avoided the incidents around him and continued to the chequered flag.
The Momentum Motorsports driver finished eighth overall and secured his second Masters Cup victory of the season after missing the Road America and Mid-Ohio rounds.
“It was definitely slick out there, especially being on old tires,” said Autiello atop the podium. “It was unfortunate to see what happened to Whitney [Strickland] in Turn 1. As I kept watching the attrition in the race, I knew I just had to keep my head down and be smart about it. If I tried to race up in the front, I probably would’ve made a mistake. It was more about being smart, and I think that’s the best we could have done given the circumstances. I have to thank my daughter, Ava, for being here and making it a great Father’s Day.”

Papasavvas takes the early Race 3 lead but Golan triumps
Golan started the final race from pole, but Papasavvas produced a stronger launch and moved into the lead during the opening phase. However, Autiello suffered a mechanical failure and could not leave the grid, prompting an early Safety Car. Papasavvas retained the lead when racing resumed, while Golan settled into second and Hauanio moved ahead of Shipman for third.
An accordion-style incident then developed in the midfield and forced officials to neutralise the race for a second time. Therefore, Golan received another opportunity to challenge Papasavvas at the restart.
Golan completes the Indianapolis sweep
Golan remained close to Papasavvas along the front straight before taking a wider line through Turn 1. The approach positioned him for a move at Turn 2, where he completed the decisive pass for the lead. Papasavvas continued to apply pressure and remained within a few tenths during parts of the final run. Nevertheless, Golan maintained control and crossed the line 2.159 seconds ahead after 16 laps.
The victory completed Golan’s Indianapolis sweep and increased his season total to five wins. Papasavvas took another second-place finish, while Hauanio resisted Shipman to secure third. Wisniewski climbed from 11th to fifth and recorded his strongest result of the weekend.
Golan reflects on his most difficult victory of the weekend
Despite winning all three races, Golan faced his strongest challenge during the final contest as Papasavvas kept him under pressure after the restart.
“I’m a bit at a loss for words, to be honest,” said Golan after climbing from the car. “To see us win on the sportscar side at [VIRginia International Raceway] and win all three races here this weekend—it’s phenomenal. It shows how strong this group is that Nathan [Toney, team owner] has put together. They’ve done a great job all weekend—and all year, honestly. I see them working their tails off nonstop, so it’s awesome to come out with three great results for the team. That was by far the hardest that I’ve had to work for a win; we all put up a good fight. I’m really happy to win this one.”
Golan’s pole position and three victories also earned him the Omologato One to Watch Award for the Indianapolis weekend.
Penalties and half points shape the Race 3 classification
Officials awarded half points for Race 3 under Stewards Memo 3. Consequently, Golan received 12.5 points for victory, while Papasavvas earned nine and Hauanio collected 7.5.
Dass received a drive-through penalty, converted into 30 seconds, for causing a collision. The sanction left him sixth in the official classification. Officials also moved Janzen to the final classified position after identifying a tyre violation. However, he remained the only classified Masters Cup competitor and retained the class victory.
Janzen secures his first Masters Cup victory of 2026
Janzen avoided the incidents that eliminated his Masters Cup rivals and navigated both restarts to reach the finish. The Crosslink Motorsports driver claimed his first class win of the season after recording five runner-up finishes earlier in the campaign. The result carried additional significance because his daughters attended one of his race weekends for the first time.
“It was survival, for sure,” said Janzen atop the podium. “I was looking around and wondering where everyone was. It seemed to be a bit of bad luck with some mid-pack racing and collisions; probably some tiredness in the last race of the weekend. I’d like to thank my wife, Kara, and my two daughters, Hannah and Olivia, for coming. This is the first race weekend [my daughters] have seen, so it’s really nice to have them here. I was surprised last night; they just showed up at dinner. I looked over and was like ‘they look really familiar.’ I didn’t expect them to come, so it was a bit of a surprise, but it’s really wonderful to have them here.”
Janzen also earned the Masters Cup Omologato One to Watch Award for his Indianapolis performance.

Golan leaves Indianapolis with a perfect record
Golan entered Indianapolis after securing pole position and two podiums at Mid-Ohio. He then strengthened that momentum by leading Qualifying and converting all three Indianapolis race opportunities into victories.
Papasavvas also maintained his consistent form by finishing second, third and second across the three races. Shipman added two podiums, while Hauanio recovered from a puncture and a difficult opening race to return to the top three in the finale.
Meanwhile, the Masters Cup produced a different winner in each race as Strickland, Autiello and Janzen shared the Indianapolis victories. Their changing fortunes contrasted with Golan’s dominance at the front of the field.
FRAC will return at New Jersey Motorsports Park from 31 July to 2 August. Golan will arrive with renewed momentum after leaving Indianapolis with pole position, three race victories and the strongest weekend performance of the 2026 season so far.
