Four Endurance Cup rounds are now complete, and the trip to the Nürburgring brought the first championship celebrations of the 2026 GT World Challenge (GTWC) Europe season. Comtoyou Racing was untouchable at the front of the three-hour race. Mattia Drudi, Marco Sørensen and Nicki Thiim started the #7 Aston Martin from pole and converted it into victory, with Team WRT’s Kelvin van der Linde, Jordan Pepper and Charles Weerts taking second. Daniel Juncadella, Chris Lulham and Jules Gounon completed the podium for Mercedes-AMG Team Verstappen Racing.

The result at the front was not enough to keep the Endurance Cup Drivers’ title open. Lucas Auer, Maro Engel and Luca Stolz crossed the line fourth and secured the championship with one round still to run. There was more silverware decided further down the order. Team WRT sealed the Silver Cup Endurance title, while Kessel Racing wrapped up the Bronze Cup Teams’ Championship. The Gold Cup, meanwhile, remains very much alive heading towards Portimão.

Winward Racing remains at the top of the Teams’ Championship, although its margin has become considerably smaller. Fourth place for the #48 Mercedes-AMG took the team to 128 points, while Team WRT’s runner-up finish moved it to 123.5. Only 4.5 points now separate the leading two teams. Lionspeed GP holds third on 79 points, but Comtoyou Racing has moved much closer following its Nürburgring win. The Aston Martin squad rises to 74, putting it five points behind Lionspeed and 2.5 ahead of 2Seas Motorsport.

Auer and Engel continue to control the Drivers’ Championship. Their Nürburgring result lifts both to 126.5 points, giving them a sizeable advantage over van der Linde and Weerts. The WRT pairing moves to 92 points, while Stolz is third on 86. Feller and Buus stay on 77 after a scoreless weekend, allowing Thiim to close in following the Comtoyou victory. Drudi and Sørensen also make a notable jump, with both reaching 59 points.

2026 GTWC Europe standings after Round 7 at Nürburgring: Overall: Gold Cup

There is a new leader in the combined Gold Cup Teams’ Championship. AF Corse moves onto 146 points and takes a five-point advantage over Garage 59. The latter collected a qualifying point at the Nürburgring but could not add a significant race score after the #58 McLaren failed to finish. CSA Racing remains close enough to keep the pressure on the top two with 130 points. ROWE Racing is fourth, followed by Boutsen VDS, while Tresor Attempto Racing’s Nürburgring victory lifts it to sixth.

Thomas Fleming and Louis Prette remain comfortably ahead in the Drivers’ Championship despite Garage 59’s difficult Nürburgring race. Arthur Rougier and James Kell occupy second on 114.5 points, with Simon Gachet only 3.5 points further back. Ugo de Wilde, Jens Klingmann and Tim Tramnitz are fourth after a weekend that also moved them into the lead of the Endurance-only Gold Cup standings.

2026 GTWC Europe standings after Round 7 at Nürburgring: Overall: Silver Cup

Team WRT has built a substantial lead in the combined Silver Cup standings. The #30 BMW added another strong result at the Nürburgring, taking pole in class before finishing second. That leaves WRT on 177.5 points overall, 84 clear of GetSpeed. HRT Ford Racing took the class victory in Germany, with Eduardo Coseteng, Nicolas Baert and Niklas Kalus delivering the first GT World Challenge class win for the Mustang GT3.

Ignacio Montenegro and Matisse Lismont share the Drivers’ Championship lead on 177.5 points. Aurélien Panis and Anthony Bartone remain second, while Amaury Cordeel sits third. His total differs from Montenegro and Lismont because of the different Sprint Cup programmes undertaken by the drivers. The Nürburgring win moves Coseteng to 56 points, while Baert and Kalus are further down the combined classification because their previous programmes differ.

Kessel Racing remains on top of the combined Bronze Cup Teams’ Championship and leaves Germany with 128 points. The Nürburgring race itself went the way of 2Seas Motorsport. Kiern Jewiss, Charles Dawson and Reece Barr brought the #222 Mercedes-AMG home first in class, ahead of Winward Racing and Kessel Racing. Winward sits second in the combined table on 105 points, with Paradine Competition only two points behind.

Endurance Cup

The Nürburgring had a major impact on the Endurance Cup. With four of five rounds now complete, three championship outcomes are already confirmed. The Overall Drivers’ crown belongs to Auer, Engel and Stolz, Team WRT has secured the Silver Cup, and Kessel Racing has wrapped up the Bronze Cup Teams’ title. There is still plenty left to decide at Portimão, particularly in the Gold Cup and the Bronze Cup Drivers’ battle.

The Aston Martin squad moves into second after taking the maximum race result in Germany. Team WRT is third on 56 points, followed by Garage 59 and ROWE Racing.

Auer, Engel and Stolz no longer need to look over their shoulders. The trio has 86 points following four rounds, while Nürburgring winners Thiim, Sørensen and Drudi are second with 59. With only Portimão remaining, the 27-point margin is enough to settle the title. They become the first Endurance Cup crew to secure the Drivers’ Championship with a round to spare.

There will be no early celebration in the Gold Cup. ROWE Racing has taken over the Teams’ Championship lead on 89 points, but Garage 59 is only three points behind. AF Corse is also still within range on 78. Tresor Attempto Racing took the Nürburgring victory after Pereira grabbed the class lead during the final hour, while Boutsen VDS finished second.

The championship now returns to Sprint Cup competition at Zandvoort before the Endurance Cup reaches its conclusion at Portimão.
