Qualifying for next Sunday’s 2026 Indy 500 and round 7 of the IndyCar season has been completed, view the report and results here.

A condensed schedule was announced on Saturday afternoon. Rain throughout the day meant full field qualifying could not take place yesterday.

The updated schedule was as follows ET

  • 9:30 AM – 10:30 AM | Practice
  • 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM | Indianapolis 500 Full Field Qualifying
  • 4:30 PM – 5:30 PM | Indianapolis 500 Top 12 Qualifying
  • 6:00 PM – 6:30 PM | Firestone Fast Six

Scott McLaughlin went into Sunday as favourite for pole position. The Kiwi did only one qualifying simulation on Fast Friday, looking absolutely mighty on the four-lap no-tow list by topping it. The usual oval suspects all looked strong, including one-off entry Conor Daly in the Dreyer and Reinbold machine.

Felix Rosenqvist was quickest on the day. However, he had a slipstream from Josef Newgarden on that Fastest Speed lap.

Andretti went into Sunday with plenty of worries. Understeer on Fast Friday and a lack of pace left them with plenty of head scratching as Kyle Kirkwood and Will Power looked well off top 12 contenders.

Two former winners and one-off entries Helio Castroneves and Ryan Hunter-Reay were also a very long way down, struggling for speed in their Meyer Shank Racing and Arrow McLaren cars.

It was Felix Rosenqvist who was absolutely rapid in the first half of full field qualifying. An astonishing average of 232.599 mph put him nearly a mile clear of the field.

The big shock was Josef Newgarden. He was a mile and a half off Team Penske teammate Scott McLaughlin, guaranteeing a low starting spot for next weekend. David Malukas confirmed how bad the run of car #2 was when he had a 231.813 mph average.
