The only practice for round 8 of the 2026 Indy NXT season in Gateway has been completed, view the full results here.

Round 7 in Detroit saw Enzo Fittipaldi take the victory after a chaotic race on the streets of Detroit. Myles Rowe and Tymek Kucharczyk completed the podium, while Fittipaldi left the weekend as the championship leader heading into World Wide Technology Raceway.

The field now shifts to WWTR for the first oval race of the 2026 Indy NXT season. With just one practice session before qualifying, drivers had limited time to get up to speed around the 1.25-mile oval.

Coming into the weekend, Lochie Hughes is looking to repeat his Gateway win from last year. Rowe is also expected to be one to watch on the ovals, alongside Salvador de Alba, who has shown strong form on oval circuits.

The weekend also sees Yuven Sundaramoorthy return to the Indy NXT paddock, stepping into Cusick Morgan Motorsports’ No. 15 entry in place of Nicolas Stati. Sundaramoorthy brings previous WWTR experience, having finished third at the 1.25-mile oval during his 2024 campaign.

Tymek Kucharczyk had the first notable wiggle of the session. The Polish driver entered the weekend with recent oval experience, having competed in the USF Pro 2000 race at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park on May 21.

Lochie Hughes, Josh Pierson and JM Correa were the first drivers to break into the 157 mph range before Alessandro de Tullio became the first into the 158s. After being taken out from pole in multiple recent races, de Tullio was looking for a much-needed clean weekend.

Max Garcia soon followed de Tullio into the 158s. The reigning USF Pro 2000 champion entered Gateway looking to jump-start his season, sitting 11th in the championship standings.

With 30 minutes remaining, Myles Rowe moved to the top of the timing sheets with the first lap in the 160 mph range. Salvador de Alba and de Tullio followed in the 159s, ahead of Kucharczyk and Garcia.

Matteo Nannini also showed strong pace on the high line. Although he sat 10th with 23 minutes remaining, he looked comfortable in traffic and made progress while overtaking.

With 10 minutes remaining, the majority of the field headed to the pits for new tires. Seb Murray and Pierson were among the first drivers to begin their low-fuel qualifying simulations, with Pierson jumping to second after breaking into the 160s.

Hughes briefly beat Rowe’s earlier benchmark with a 160.6 mph lap, but Rowe quickly responded with a 161.0. At the checkered flag, Enzo Fittipaldi topped the session with a 161.669 mph lap, ahead of Rowe and de Alba.

The top seven drivers all broke into the 160 mph range, while Fittipaldi and Rowe were the only two to reach the 161s.
