The 2026 International GT Open season continued at Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, and the championship’s first visit to the Italian venue produced a decisive momentum shift. After Team Motopark’s commanding GT Open 500 victory at Spa-Francorchamps, Round 3 belonged to Elite Motorsport with Entire Race Engineering, as Tom Emson and Tom Lebbon swept both races in the #17 Ferrari 296 GT3 EVO.

Across the weekend, the British pairing showed pace, patience and race craft. They started Race 1 from second but snatched victory from Greystone GT on the final lap, before Lebbon took pole for Race 2 and the pair converted that into another win on Sunday. As a result, Emson and Lebbon left Misano with 72 points and a 16-point lead over Christian Mansell and Maximilian Götz in the overall standings.

Greystone GT also strengthened its position with two runner-up finishes for Dean Macdonald and Zac Meakin, while Fach Auto Tech continued to dominate Pro-Am through Alexander Fach and Lucas Wolf. In Am, Fach Auto Tech and Good Speed Racing Team shared the honours, as Joel Monegro Reyes won Race 1 before Piotr Wira and Tomasz Magdziarz claimed their maiden class victory in Race 2.

2026 International GT Open: Misano: Free Practice Sessions

Misano welcomed the International GT Open field for the first time with humid late-spring weather. Rain and sunshine alternated through Friday, with the morning session taking place on a drying track before the afternoon began in dry conditions and was later interrupted by returning rain.

Free Practice 1 was led by Olimp Racing, as Marcin Jedliński and Karol Basz put the #777 Ferrari 296 GT3 EVO at the top with a 1:33.659. AF Corse followed in second with Laurent De Meeus and Vincent Abril, while Emson and Lebbon placed third for Elite Motorsport. GetSpeed and Al Manar by Dragon Racing completed the top five, giving the session a varied manufacturer spread.

However, Free Practice 2 produced the fastest lap of the day. Saintéloc Racing moved to the top with Michaël Blanchemain and Jim Pla, whose #26 Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II set a 1:33.286. The margin was tiny, with the #55 AF Corse Ferrari only 0.006s behind. Greystone GT followed in third, ZRS Motorsport placed fourth, and Team Motopark’s #28 Mercedes completed the top five.

Meanwhile, the Bronze-focused Free Practice 3 was led by Team ISR. Filip Salaquarda and Libor Milota topped the session with a 1:34.208, ahead of Sendom Racing Team’s Seweryn Mazur, who also led the Am runners. Fach Auto Tech placed third overall and second in Pro-Am, while Olimp Racing and the Am-leading Fach Auto Tech entry completed the top five.

Qualifying 1 produced a dramatic late pole for Greystone GT. In dry conditions, Dean Macdonald placed the #33 McLaren 720s GT3 Evo on pole with a 1:31.194, taking his second pole position of the season after the order changed in the final two flying laps following a red flag.

The interruption came after Darren Kell’s Track Focused McLaren spun at the final corner and hit the wall at the entrance to the straight. Once the session resumed, Macdonald found the rhythm he needed and beat the benchmark twice. Emson qualified second for Elite Motorsport, 0.285s behind, while Basz placed the #777 Olimp Racing Ferrari third overall and first in Pro-Am.

Moncini placed fourth for Scuderia Villorba Corse, ahead of championship leader Mansell in the #71 Team Motopark Mercedes. Jim Pla completed the third row for Saintéloc Racing, while Abril and Fumanelli followed on the fourth row. Mazur was the fastest Am runner, qualifying 17th overall for Sendom Racing Team.

Race 1 produced one of the most dramatic finishes of the season, as Emson and Lebbon claimed their first win of 2026 after a last-lap pass on Greystone GT. The victory also gave the Ferrari 296 GT3 EVO its first overall win of the season on Italian soil and moved the Elite Motorsport pair into the provisional championship lead.

At the start, Macdonald retained the lead from pole, while Basz moved into second. Emson lost ground and dropped behind Moncini and Mansell, while Pla ran sixth ahead of Abril, Fontana, Fumanelli, Milota and Wolf. Macdonald then opened a small advantage over Basz, while Moncini held third and backed up a group that included Mansell, Emson, Abril and Fumanelli.

The opening stint was busy throughout the field. Pla dropped down the order after contact and later stopped, while there were incidents involving Lewandowski Sr, Letlaka, Mazur, Veselaho, Müller and Han. The most significant moment came when Mansell attempted to pass Moncini, made contact with the Lamborghini, and forced the Villorba Corse car into a spin and a pit stop for a tyre change.

When the driver-change window opened on lap 19, Macdonald had stretched his lead to around five seconds over Basz. After the pit cycle, Meakin led by nine seconds from Jedliński, with De Meeus third, Lebbon fourth and Armanni fifth. However, a two-lap safety car period, caused by Mazur stopping at Turn 8, compressed the field and changed the rhythm of the race.

After the restart, Fach moved into the Pro-Am lead, while Schiller began closing on him for the final podium place. At the front, Lebbon reduced Meakin’s lead and applied heavy pressure. The decisive moment came on the final lap, when a small mistake from Meakin allowed Lebbon through to take victory by just 0.460s. Schiller also passed Fach on the final lap to secure third overall for GetSpeed, although Fach still won Pro-Am for Fach Auto Tech.

In Pro-Am, Fach and Wolf took the class victory ahead of Team ISR’s Salaquarda and Milota, with PTT Racing’s Darmetko and Dybionka completing the podium. In Am, Monegro Reyes gave Fach Auto Tech another win, ahead of Baron Motorsport’s Andrzej and Adrian Lewandowski and Good Speed Racing Team’s Wira and Magdziarz.

Race 2 confirmed Elite Motorsport’s control of the weekend. Starting from pole, Lebbon kept the lead into Turn 1 after an early challenge from Mosca, while Mettler ran third ahead of Baumann, Fach, Ferrari, Götz, Meakin and Testa. However, the opening laps were costly for Team Motopark, as Götz dropped down the order with a wheel issue after contact and eventually stopped.

Lebbon managed the first stint confidently, building a gap of around 1.8s over Mosca. Behind them, Mettler, Baumann, Meakin and Fach stayed close, while De Meeus hit the wall early in the race and Monegro Reyes spun but recovered. Fach was later given a 10-second penalty after contact with Ferrari, who had been sent into a spin.

After the pit stops and driver changes, Durán led by six seconds from Ramírez, Emson and Macdonald. Moncini ran fifth, ahead of Fontana, Fumanelli and Darmetko, but the order changed quickly. Wolf took the Pro-Am lead from Darmetko on lap 27, while Emson charged forward in the overall battle.

By lap 30, Emson had passed both Ramírez and Durán to take the lead. Macdonald also moved into contention, while Durán lost third to Fontana. Despite close gaps in the final laps, Emson held on to win by 0.596s from Greystone GT, with ZRS Motorsport completing the podium.

Fach and Wolf repeated their Race 1 Pro-Am success for Fach Auto Tech, finishing eighth overall after the penalty was applied. Olimp Racing’s Jedliński and Basz took second in Pro-Am, with Team ISR third. In Am, Wira and Magdziarz claimed their first class victory in the Good Speed Racing Team Aston Martin, ahead of Target Racing’s Huilin Han and Baron Motorsport’s Lewandowski pairing.

Conclusion: Elite Motorsport takes control at Misano

In conclusion, Misano delivered the defining weekend of Elite Motorsport’s 2026 International GT Open campaign so far. Emson and Lebbon arrived in Italy as consistent contenders, but they left as double winners and championship leaders after combining late-race aggression in Race 1 with controlled execution in Race 2.

For Team Motopark, the weekend was costly. Mansell and Götz arrived as championship leaders after their Spa success, but ninth in Race 1 and a non-classification in Race 2 allowed Elite Motorsport to move 16 points clear. Meanwhile, Greystone GT recovered important ground with two second-place finishes, and ZRS Motorsport returned to the overall podium in Race 2.

In the classes, Fach Auto Tech continued to impress. Fach and Wolf swept Pro-Am at Misano, while Monegro Reyes kept himself level at the top of the Am standings despite Good Speed Racing Team’s breakthrough Race 2 win. Therefore, while Elite Motorsport now holds the overall advantage, the depth of the field ensures the title battle remains wide open as the championship heads to the Hungaroring.
