Jesse Carrasquedo delivered the standout performance of 2026 Euroformula Open Round 3 at Misano, taking victory in both Sunday races as Mexican drivers swept the weekend at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli.

The third round of the 2026 season marked the championship’s first visit to Misano. It also produced a major shift in momentum after Rui-Heng “Enzo” Yeh’s dominant Spa-Francorchamps hat-trick. This time, Javier Herrera claimed pole position and a maiden win for BVM Racing, before Carrasquedo responded with back-to-back victories for Team Motopark.

Although Yeh still left Italy with the championship lead, Misano proved far less straightforward for the Taipei-born driver. Instead, Herrera, Carrasquedo, BVM Racing and Team Motopark all shared the spotlight across a hot and competitive weekend.

2026 Euroformula Open: Round 3: Misano: Free Practice

To begin with, Euroformula Open’s first visit to the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli opened with changeable conditions. Storms hit the circuit in the morning, before warmer and more humid weather arrived in the afternoon. As a result, the two free practice sessions produced very different lap times.

In Free Practice 1, held on a wet track, Team Motopark controlled the top of the timing sheets. Everett Stack led the way with a 1:43.593, finishing 0.355s ahead of Yeh. Diego de la Torre completed a Motopark top three, while Carrasquedo followed in fourth.

Lorenzo Castillo was the fastest rookie in fifth, ahead of BVM Racing’s Herrera. Jan Koller, Alessandro Famularo, Wiktor Dobrzański and Ricardo Miranda Baptista completed the top ten, while Divy Nandan and Aaron Ferrazzano rounded out the classification.

However, the afternoon session brought a major change. With lap times dropping significantly, BVM Racing shone on home soil, close to its Ravenna base. Famularo topped Free Practice 2 with a 1:27.749, narrowly beating teammate Herrera by 0.054s. Yeh followed in third, only 0.184s off the benchmark, while Carrasquedo, Stack and de la Torre completed the top six.

2026 Euroformula Open: Round 3: Misano: Race 1

Herrera then completed the perfect Saturday by converting pole into his maiden Euroformula Open victory. The BVM Racing driver led from lights to flag, taking a controlled win in hot conditions and giving the Italian squad a home-track triumph.

At the start, Herrera retained the lead from Yeh, Stack, Famularo and Carrasquedo. Behind them, both de la Torre and Koller were left stuck on the grid, although the rest of the field managed to avoid them. That immediately compromised both drivers’ races and removed de la Torre from the lead battle.

At the front, Herrera steadily built his advantage over Yeh. By mid-race, he had opened a gap of around two seconds, while the top five remained stable behind him. The main change inside the lead group came on lap nine, when Famularo passed Stack for third to make it two BVM Racing cars on the podium.

Further back, Baptista, Dobrzański and Castillo fought over the lead of the second group. Dobrzański eventually came out ahead of that battle, finishing sixth behind Carrasquedo. Herrera crossed the line 3.391s clear of Yeh, while Famularo completed the podium and secured a 1-3 result for BVM Racing. Herrera also claimed the fastest lap with a 1:28.554.

2026 Euroformula Open: Round 3: Misano: Race 2

Race 2 produced another maiden Euroformula Open winner, as Carrasquedo came through to take victory for Team Motopark. The Mexican driver defeated teammate Dobrzański in the closing stages, while Motopark ultimately secured a 1-2-3 finish after Herrera was penalised.

Dobrzański and Carrasquedo started from the front row on the reversed grid and both launched cleanly. Behind them, Stack and Famularo had poor starts, while Ferrazzano began from the pit lane after a technical issue. That allowed Yeh and Herrera to move quickly into third and fourth during the opening phase.

Dobrzański held the lead through the first five laps, but Carrasquedo, Yeh and Herrera gradually closed in, turning the lead fight into a four-car battle. Further back, de la Torre and Stack worked their way past Nandan by lap seven, while Baptista joined that group.

The race changed again on lap 12 when Famularo went straight on at Turn 11 and hit the wall, ending his race. Shortly afterwards, Herrera passed Yeh for third, although he later received a warning for track limits. Carrasquedo then made the decisive move three laps from the end, passing Dobrzański for the lead at Turn 4.

Although Herrera crossed the line third, he received a 20-second penalty for joining the grid too late and dropped to tenth. As a result, Yeh inherited third behind Carrasquedo and Dobrzański. Famularo was not classified, although he set the fastest lap with a 1:27.932 before retiring.

Starting from pole on the inverted grid, Carrasquedo made a clean getaway and immediately took control. Famularo started alongside him, but the BVM Racing driver lost ground as Stack and de la Torre moved through. Herrera ran fifth early on, while Baptista followed behind.

Yeh endured a poor start and fell to ninth by the end of the opening lap. However, the championship leader quickly began recovering through the order. He climbed back into the top six and became part of a compact group featuring Famularo, Herrera and Baptista.

At the front, Carrasquedo built a gap of almost two seconds, while Stack settled into second. De la Torre ran further back in third, leading the chasing group. Positions stabilised through the middle phase, although Herrera eventually moved past Famularo to secure fourth. Dobrzański also recovered to eighth after battling with Nandan.

Carrasquedo eventually crossed the line 2.483s ahead of Stack, while de la Torre completed the podium. Herrera finished fourth as the top rookie, with Famularo fifth and Yeh sixth. Carrasquedo also claimed the fastest lap with a 1:28.512.

Carrasquedo seizes momentum at Misano

In conclusion, Misano delivered the most open Euroformula Open weekend of the 2026 season so far. After Yeh’s dominant Spa-Francorchamps hat-trick, Round 3 produced three Mexican victories, two maiden winners and a renewed sense of competition at the front.

Herrera’s pole and Race 1 victory confirmed his rapid rise with BVM Racing, while Carrasquedo’s Sunday double transformed his championship position after a difficult start to the year. Moreover, Team Motopark still holds firm control of the Teams’ Championship, even as BVM Racing showed serious pace at its home circuit.

Therefore, while Yeh remains the clear championship leader, Misano has changed the tone of the season. Carrasquedo, de la Torre, Stack, Famularo and Herrera all leave Italy with reasons to believe they can keep the fight alive as the championship heads to the next round at the Hungaroring.
