The 2026 F4 Spanish Championship returned from its summer break at the Circuito de Madrid Jarama-RACE for Round 4, where a heavily interrupted weekend produced three different winners and another major change at the top of the Drivers’ Championship.

Noah Monteiro arrived in Madrid as the championship leader following the previous Round 3 at MotorLand Aragón, although post-MotorLand sporting decisions had reshaped the order behind him before Jarama. The official championship preview placed Monteiro on 100 points, six ahead of Nacho Tuñón, with Andrej Petrović on 92 and only 19 points covering the leading seven drivers.

Kasper Schormans entered sixth on 82 points but left Madrid firmly in control after taking victory in Race 1 and second place in both Sunday contests. Borys Łyżeń won a chaotic Race 2, while Elliot Kaczynski converted his maiden pole into his first Spanish F4 victory in Race 3. The results lifted Schormans to 140 points, 18 clear of Łyżeń and 22 ahead of Petrović.

2026 Spanish F4: Jarama: Qualifying 1: Łyżeń claims maiden pole

Łyżeń began the weekend by securing his first Spanish F4 pole position in a closely fought opening Qualifying session. The KCL Motorsport rookie became the only driver to break into the 1:32s, producing a 1:32.929 to beat Schormans by 0.193s.

Vivek Kanthan placed third in the final classification, 0.250s away from pole, with Jacob Micallef fourth and Rocco Coronel fifth. Petrović followed in sixth, while Kaczynski took seventh ahead of championship leader Monteiro. Only 0.540s separated the leading 10 drivers, underlining the competitive nature of the 3.850km Jarama circuit.

Łyżeń also topped the second-fastest-lap classification, meaning he secured pole for Race 2 as well. Schormans again took second, this time 0.280s behind, while Kanthan, Petrović, Coronel and Monteiro completed the leading six.

Jorden Moodley lost his best lap for causing a Red Flag and therefore failed to record a representative Qualifying time.

2026 Spanish F4: Jarama: Race 1: Schormans snatches victory from Łyżeń

Łyżeń initially converted pole into the lead while Schormans settled into second, but repeated Safety Car interruptions prevented either driver from establishing a comfortable advantage.

Race Control first neutralised the contest after Mokarem stalled, before another incident involving Jean Paul Karras and Cochet brought out a second Safety Car. Contact between Martínez and Miettinen later left both drivers in the Turn 1 gravel and caused another intervention. The stop-start nature of the race therefore repeatedly erased any advantage Łyżeń built at the front.

The decisive moment arrived after another restart. Łyżeń defended the inside into Turn 1 but locked his tyres, allowing Schormans to execute the switchback and take control. The MP Motorsport driver then maintained the lead through another late Safety Car period to secure his first victory of the weekend.

Schormans crossed the line 0.764s ahead of Łyżeń, while Micallef completed the podium for Campos Racing. Petrović finished fourth ahead of Kaczynski and Kanthan, with Blascos seventh.

Coronel crossed the line higher but received a two-position penalty, leaving him eighth ahead of Arnaudo and Tuñón. Monteiro’s championship lead took a major hit after front-wing damage forced him into the pits and left him 28th at the finish.

Łyżeń set the fastest lap with a 1:33.301.

2026 Spanish F4: Jarama: Qualifying 2: Kaczynski takes breakthrough pole

Kaczynski delivered his first Spanish F4 pole position during Sunday morning’s second Qualifying session.

The Drivex rookie produced a 1:32.311 on his 11th lap to beat Schormans by only 0.081s. Łyżeń set exactly the same 1:32.392 as Schormans but took third in the official order, while Kanthan finished fourth. Coronel and Piñera completed the top six.

The field again produced remarkably close margins around Jarama. Twenty-four drivers finished within one second of Kaczynski, while Petrović in ninth and Tuñón in 10th remained only 0.434s away from pole.

Monteiro qualified eighth as he attempted to recover from his difficult Saturday, while Tye could manage only 16th.

2026 Spanish F4: Jarama: Race 2: Łyżeń wins heavily interrupted sprint

Race 2 started with Łyżeń on pole from the second-fastest-lap classification, but the field encountered trouble before the racing even properly began.

Fluxá became stranded at Turn 10 on the formation lap, forcing officials to abort the original start. Łyżeń mistakenly moved away from his grid position during the confusion and later received a reprimand, although he retained pole for the eventual start.

Further drama followed immediately when Mokarem and Kaczynski collided off the line. Race Control subsequently stopped the race with a Red Flag. After the lengthy interruption, drivers completed two laps behind the Safety Car before officials briefly returned the race to green.

That green-flag period lasted only half a lap before Neto became stranded at Turn 3 and triggered another Safety Car. The interruptions therefore left little opportunity for drivers to attack, while another incident involving Moodley at Turn 3 brought out the final Safety Car on the penultimate lap.

Through all of the disruption, Łyżeń kept control and secured his third victory of the season, adding to his two wins at Portimão. Schormans finished only 0.342s behind in second, continuing his perfect run of podiums at Jarama, while Kanthan completed the top three.

Coronel took fourth ahead of Monteiro and Petrović. Micallef finished seventh, followed by Tuñón, Arnaudo and Burnett. Łyżeń also recorded the fastest lap with a 1:33.166.

2026 Spanish F4: Jarama: Race 3: Kaczynski converts maiden pole into maiden victory

Kaczynski started the final race from pole and held Schormans behind through the opening corners, but the contest quickly followed the same interrupted pattern as the previous two races.

Cochet made contact with the stalled Mulder on the opening lap, prompting the first Safety Car. Racing resumed at the end of lap four, but another incident followed when Lowette and Fluxá became involved at Turn 1, eliminating both and requiring Race Control to neutralise proceedings again.

Once racing resumed on lap 10, Kaczynski used the fight between Schormans and Łyżeń behind him to build a small advantage. However, another Safety Car followed after Tuñón crashed into the Turn 3 barriers following contact with Arnaudo.

That interruption set up a short final run to the flag. Schormans remained close when racing resumed and pressured Kaczynski through the closing laps, but the Swedish rookie refused to give him an opportunity. Kaczynski crossed the line only 0.234s ahead to secure both his first single-seater victory and Drivex’s second win of the season.

Łyżeń originally crossed the line third. However, officials handed him a 10-second penalty following contact with Kanthan, dropping him to 17th. Piñera consequently inherited the final podium position, with Kanthan promoted to fourth.

Coronel finished fifth ahead of Petrović. Monteiro crossed the line strongly but received a two-position penalty and ended the final classification in seventh, while Radeck, Kelleher and Blascos completed the top 10.

Despite dropping to 17th, Łyżeń set the fastest lap with a 1:33.723.

Drivers’ Standings after Round 4: Schormans takes control

Schormans produced the most significant championship swing of the weekend. He arrived at Jarama sixth in the standings but finished every race inside the top two, taking one victory and two runner-up finishes.

That consistency moved the MP Motorsport rookie onto 140 points and handed him an 18-point advantage over Łyżeń, who climbs to second on 122 after taking one victory, one second place and the Race 3 fastest lap.

Petrović sits another four points behind on 118 after three top-six finishes. Monteiro’s difficult opening race proved costly, and the former championship leader slips to fourth on 114 despite recovering with fifth and seventh in Sunday’s contests.

Coronel remains firmly involved on 111 points, while Tuñón drops to sixth with 97 after failing to finish Race 3. Tye remains seventh on 86 following a scoreless weekend, while Kanthan and Piñera share 70 points. Kaczynski’s breakthrough victory moves him into the top 10 with 53.

Teams’ Standings after Round 4: MP Motorsport retakes advantage

The Teams’ Championship also changed considerably at Jarama.

T-Code entered the weekend leading MP Motorsport by 13 points following revisions to the post-MotorLand standings, but Schormans’ outstanding weekend and Coronel’s three points finishes swung the advantage firmly back towards the Dutch team. MP Motorsport now leads with 251 points.

T-Code moves to 211 after Petrović scored consistently across all three races, although Tuñón’s difficult final contest prevented the team from matching MP’s haul. The gap between the leading two therefore stands at 40 points.

Griffin Core occupies third with 148 points, while KCL Motorsport climbs to 138 after Łyżeń’s strong weekend. Drivex sits only three points further back on 135 after Kaczynski’s Race 3 victory, leaving a tight battle behind the leading two teams.

Tecnicar holds sixth with 70 points, followed by Campos Racing on 37 and Monlau Motorsport on 21. DXR and G4 Racing complete the points-scoring teams.

Schormans transforms championship picture at Jarama

Round 4 produced a dramatic reshuffling of a championship that already looked exceptionally close before the summer break.

Schormans entered the weekend 18 points behind Monteiro and only sixth in the standings. However, one victory and two second-place finishes transformed that deficit into an 18-point championship advantage. Łyżeń also made major progress through his Race 2 victory, while Petrović’s consistency keeps him only 22 points away from the lead.

Monteiro consequently falls from first to fourth, although only 26 points separate him from Schormans. Coronel sits a further three points behind, meaning five drivers remain within 29 points of the championship lead with three rounds remaining.

Kaczynski also leaves Madrid with a significantly different championship outlook. After beginning the weekend on only 16 points, the Drivex rookie claimed his maiden pole and maiden victory to reach 53 and establish himself inside the top 10.

Meanwhile, MP Motorsport regained control of the Teams’ Championship and now holds a 40-point advantage over T-Code. However, Griffin Core, KCL Motorsport and Drivex remain closely grouped behind them, with only 13 points separating third from fifth.

Spanish F4 returns at Jerez from 25–27 September for Round 5 before visiting Navarra in October and Barcelona for the season finale in November.
