The 2026 Wera Tools F4 British Championship, certified by FIA, delivered one of its deepest seasons yet. Across 10 rounds, 30 races and seven circuits in two countries, 13 different drivers won races and 19 reached the podium, while the title battle changed shape several times before Dries Van Langendonck ultimately emerged as champion.

The Rodin Motorsport driver began the year as one of the favourites and immediately justified that status, but his route to the title was far from straightforward. Lewis Wherrell briefly took the championship lead at Silverstone before Van Langendonck responded emphatically at Zandvoort. A difficult Thruxton weekend and his absence from the second Donington Park round then allowed Wherrell to close to within four points, only for Van Langendonck to dominate the final stretch with four victories across Croft and Silverstone.

Van Langendonck eventually secured both the Drivers’ Championship and Rookie Cup, while Theo Palmer’s outstanding Brands Hatch finale carried him past Wherrell into second overall. Hitech completed the major honours by ending Rodin Motorsport’s two-year reign in the Teams’ Championship, capping a season in which its four-driver line-up consistently accumulated points even when another team controlled the race victories.

2026 British F4 Round 1: Donington Park: Van Langendonck establishes early benchmark

The season-opening Donington Park round immediately demonstrated the depth of the 2026 field. A record 31 cars contested the first weekend, with penalties, Safety Cars and late-race drama producing three different winners.

Van Langendonck converted pole into a dominant Race 1 victory before Ethan Lennon won the interrupted reverse-grid contest. Joseph Smith then emerged from a dramatic finale to take Race 3, with Ethan Jeff-Hall and Scott Kin Lindblom completing the podium.

Although Van Langendonck won only once, his fourth place in the reverse-grid race and another strong finish in the finale allowed him to leave Donington with 52 points. Smith and Jeff-Hall were already 15 behind, giving the Belgian an immediate championship advantage.

2026 British F4 Round 2: Brands Hatch Indy: Van Langendonck extends advantage

The championship’s first visit to Brands Hatch featured three more different winners and one of the most strategically unpredictable races of the season.

Jeff-Hall took Race 1 after passing pole-sitter Adam Al Azhari, while Jarrett Clark controlled a slippery reverse-grid race to become the fifth different winner from the opening five contests. Van Langendonck had endured a difficult Qualifying session and finished seventh in both races, briefly allowing his championship rivals to close.

However, Race 3 completely changed his weekend. With conditions improving following rain, several drivers switched from wet tyres to slicks at the end of the formation lap. Van Langendonck joined them and charged through the order to take his second victory of the season.

The result increased his championship total to 85 and stretched his advantage to 23 points over Jeff-Hall. Tommy Harfield’s strong weekend moved him into third, while Hitech closed to within seven points of Rodin in the Teams’ standings.

2026 British F4 Round 3: Snetterton: Wherrell launches title challenge

Lewis Wherrell transformed himself from an outside contender into Van Langendonck’s principal challenger during Round 3 at Snetterton.

The JHR Developments rookie took pole and controlled Race 1 before teammate Timo Jüngling won the reverse-grid encounter. Wherrell returned to the front in Race 3, resisting Al Azhari through a shortened contest to complete a clean sweep of victories for JHR.

Van Langendonck failed to win for the first time in 2026 but continued to accumulate points. Two podiums and seventh in the finale moved him to 116 points, although Wherrell’s two victories brought the gap down to 29.

Hitech’s strength across its wider line-up also began to tell. Lindblom, Palmer, Al Azhari and Chiara Bättig combined to move the team ahead of Rodin Motorsport for the first time.

2026 British F4 Round 4: Silverstone: Wherrell takes championship lead

Momentum shifted again when British F4 visited the Silverstone Grand Prix circuit for a weekend featuring the revived BRDC International Trophy. The Round 4 triple-header produced another three winners and the first change at the top of the championship.

Wherrell controlled Race 1 after launching from fourth and benefited further when penalties reshuffled the podium behind him. Smith responded to an opening-race retirement by winning the reverse-grid contest, while George Proudford-Nalder produced his breakthrough performance in Race 3.

Proudford-Nalder resisted Wherrell by only 0.158s to claim his maiden British F4 victory and become the first winner of the revived BRDC International Trophy in more than two decades. Wherrell’s second place and fastest lap nevertheless proved crucial for the championship.

He left Silverstone on 132 points, nine ahead of Van Langendonck. It marked the first time the Rodin driver had lost the championship lead, while Hitech continued moving clear in the Teams’ battle.

2026 British F4 Round 5: Zandvoort: Rodin sweeps as Van Langendonck responds

Van Langendonck produced one of the most important responses of his season during British F4’s only overseas meeting. He arrived in the Netherlands nine points behind Wherrell but left the Zandvoort round with a 47-point championship advantage.

The Belgian claimed pole and converted it into victory in Race 1 before Lennon took the reverse-grid race, completing the first two stages of what became a Rodin Motorsport clean sweep. Van Langendonck then returned to the top step in Race 3 to complete his first double of the season.

Wherrell’s weekend could hardly have been more different. He failed to score in any of the three races and remained on 132 points, allowing Palmer and Lindblom to close to within single figures of him.

Despite Rodin winning every race, Hitech’s depth allowed it to extend its Teams’ Championship advantage to 72 points. Palmer and Lindblom both recorded multiple podiums, demonstrating the consistency that would eventually prove decisive.

2026 British F4 Round 6: Thruxton: Three more drivers join winners’ list

Thruxton proved to be Van Langendonck’s most difficult weekend on track. The championship leader suffered two retirements during a Round 6 weekend in which three drivers claimed their first victories of the season.

Palmer won a shortened opening race before Al Azhari controlled the reverse-grid encounter for Hitech. Jaber Alsabah then converted his first pole position into victory in Race 3, becoming the 11th different winner from the opening 18 races.

Van Langendonck salvaged third in the finale, limiting the damage caused by his two earlier retirements. Wherrell scored in Race 1 and finished second in Race 3, reducing the championship gap from 47 points to 41.

Palmer’s victory also strengthened his own challenge. He moved to 145.5 points, only 7.5 behind Wherrell, while Hitech’s two victories extended its advantage over Rodin to 85.5.

2026 British F4 Round 7: Donington Park GP: Wherrell closes to four points

The title fight reached its closest point during the championship’s return to Donington Park. Van Langendonck did not compete in the Grand Prix circuit round while serving a one-event suspension, leaving Wherrell with a major opportunity.

Alsabah claimed his second victory of the season in Race 1, before Lindblom finally converted his regular front-running pace into a maiden British F4 win during the reverse-grid contest. Proudford-Nalder completed the weekend with his second victory of the year.

Wherrell did not win but produced precisely the consistency required. Fifth, second and third delivered 37 points, carrying him from 153 to 190 and leaving him only four behind the absent Van Langendonck.

The Rookie Cup swung even further. Wherrell moved 26.5 points ahead, reversing the exact deficit he had faced after Thruxton. Meanwhile, Hitech extended its Teams’ lead beyond 100 points after another productive weekend.

2026 British F4 Round 8: Croft: Van Langendonck answers pressure with double victory

If Donington represented the greatest threat to Van Langendonck’s championship, Croft provided the strongest possible response.

Returning with only a four-point advantage, Van Langendonck immediately claimed pole before controlling Race 1 from the front. Proudford-Nalder denied him a clean sweep by mastering difficult wet conditions in Race 2, beating Lindblom by only 0.595s.

Van Langendonck then won the championship’s landmark 350th race in the weekend finale, resisting Wherrell by 0.369s. The victory was his sixth of the season and completed a 63-point weekend.

Wherrell scored in all three contests, including two podiums, yet still saw the championship margin expand from four to 33. Palmer remained third, while Hitech continued to lead Rodin comfortably in the Teams’ standings.

2026 British F4 Round 9: Silverstone: Van Langendonck puts one hand on title

Van Langendonck continued his late-season surge when the championship returned to Silverstone, this time using the National circuit. The penultimate round effectively transformed a competitive title fight into a match-point situation.

Wherrell briefly led Race 1, but a spin after a Safety Car restart opened the door for Van Langendonck. The Rodin driver took victory ahead of Palmer and Smith, while Wherrell failed to score.

Harfield became the 13th different winner of the year by controlling the reverse-grid race for Chris Dittmann Racing. Van Langendonck then returned to the front in Race 3 and held off Wherrell to complete another double.

The result increased his championship advantage from 33 to 72 points with only 75 available at Brands Hatch. He also reclaimed the Rookie Cup lead from Wherrell, while Palmer’s excellent 44-point weekend moved him to within 8.5 points of second overall.

2026 British F4 Round 10: Brands Hatch GP: Palmer stars as Van Langendonck seals title

Van Langendonck arrived at the finale needing only a handful of points, while Wherrell required an extraordinary reversal. Palmer, meanwhile, remained close enough to challenge Wherrell for second in the championship.

The final weekend quickly became Palmer’s strongest of the year. He secured his first pole position before winning Race 1, while Van Langendonck followed him home in second. That result was enough for the Belgian to be crowned the 2026 British F4 champion with two races remaining.

Smith won Sunday morning’s reverse-grid contest and led Clark home to complete the first team one-two of the season. Palmer then dominated the finale from pole, securing his third victory of the year and enough points to move ahead of Wherrell into second in the championship.

The final two races at Brands Hatch also completed the remaining title picture. Van Langendonck secured the Rookie Cup, while Hitech wrapped up the Teams’ Championship and ended Rodin Motorsport’s two-year reign.

Van Langendonck’s journey to the 2026 British F4 title

Van Langendonck’s championship combined outright speed with the ability to respond immediately whenever his advantage came under threat.

He won the very first race of the season and left both Donington Park and Brands Hatch Indy as the championship leader. Snetterton introduced Wherrell as a genuine rival, and Silverstone finally saw Van Langendonck displaced from the top after a difficult weekend.

His response at Zandvoort was immediate. Two victories turned a nine-point deficit into a 47-point advantage, creating what appeared to be a decisive mid-season shift. Thruxton then exposed how quickly that advantage could disappear, with two retirements allowing Wherrell to recover ground.

Van Langendonck’s absence from Round 7 narrowed the margin to only four points, but his return produced the defining sequence of the season. He won twice at Croft and twice again at Silverstone, scoring four victories from six conventional-grid races and turning a four-point lead into 72.

By the time the field arrived at Brands Hatch, the hard work was effectively complete. Second behind Palmer in the opening race gave Van Langendonck enough points to seal the championship, finishing a season in which he recorded eight wins, four pole positions and another four podium finishes.

Wherrell comes closest before Palmer snatches second

Wherrell’s championship ultimately contained two major surges. His first came across Snetterton and Silverstone, where three victories in six races carried him from 10th after Brands Hatch to the championship lead after Round 4.

Zandvoort proved his most damaging weekend, with three scoreless races allowing Van Langendonck to pull 47 points clear. Yet Wherrell rebuilt his challenge through Thruxton and Donington, eventually arriving at Croft only four behind.

He could not match Van Langendonck’s late-season winning run. Despite podiums at Croft and Silverstone, Wherrell entered Brands Hatch 72 points behind and saw his championship hopes mathematically end in Race 1.

Palmer’s season followed a different trajectory. Regular top-five finishes kept him near the leaders through the first half, but his first victory did not arrive until Thruxton. He remained within range of Wherrell thereafter and produced an outstanding final two rounds.

Two podiums at Silverstone brought Palmer to within 8.5 points of second. Pole, two wins and two fastest laps at Brands Hatch then completed the turnaround, lifting the Hitech driver to 295.5 points and the vice-champion position.

Thirteen different winners underline strength of 2026 field

Van Langendonck’s eight victories made him comfortably the most successful driver of the season, but the scale of competition behind him was one of the defining features of 2026.

Wherrell, Palmer, Proudford-Nalder and Smith each won three races. Lennon and Alsabah claimed two apiece, while Jeff-Hall, Clark, Jüngling, Al Azhari, Lindblom and Harfield each took one victory.

Proudford-Nalder’s year included particularly significant successes. His first win came in the revived BRDC International Trophy before further victories at Donington Park GP and Croft carried him to fourth in the championship.

Smith began the year with a win at Donington, added another at Silverstone and ended it with the reverse-grid victory at Brands Hatch. Lennon’s two wins helped Rodin complete its Zandvoort sweep, while Alsabah’s Thruxton success and Donington victory helped him establish himself as the third-best Rookie Cup driver.

Hitech converts depth into Teams’ Championship success

Hitech did not have the individual champion, but its collective strength made it the benchmark team across the full campaign.

The team first moved ahead of Rodin after Snetterton and rarely looked threatened thereafter. Palmer provided the biggest individual contribution, while Lindblom, Al Azhari and Bättig consistently supplied additional points.

Thruxton was particularly important. Palmer and Al Azhari won the opening two races, helping Hitech extend its lead while Van Langendonck endured two retirements. Lindblom then claimed his maiden victory at Donington Park GP, while regular podium and top-five finishes continued adding to the total.

Rodin possessed greater headline success through Van Langendonck and Lennon, including clean sweeps at Zandvoort and four victories across Croft and Silverstone. However, its wider scoring could not match Hitech over 30 races.

Palmer’s Race 1 victory at Brands Hatch mathematically secured the title. Hitech eventually finished on 601.5 points, 125.5 ahead of Rodin, with Virtuosi Racing completing the championship top three.

Van Langendonck completes Drivers’ and Rookie Cup double

The Rookie Cup battle mirrored the Overall Championship for much of the year but followed a slightly different trajectory because of its separate scoring system.

Van Langendonck controlled the early rounds, but Wherrell gradually reduced the gap before using his rival’s Donington absence to take the lead by 26.5 points. He retained first after Croft, although Van Langendonck’s double victory reduced the difference to only 10.5.

Silverstone changed the championship again. Van Langendonck’s two overall wins translated into two large Rookie Cup scores, while Wherrell lost ground, sending the Rodin driver into the finale 23.5 points ahead.

Van Langendonck ultimately finished on 415 points, 24.5 clear of Wherrell. Alsabah secured third with 278, ahead of Cameron Nelson and Mate Kobakhidze.

A season of changing momentum ends with Van Langendonck on top

The final 48.5-point championship margin disguises how uncertain the 2026 title battle became during the middle and latter stages of the campaign. Van Langendonck led early, lost first place to Wherrell, rebuilt a commanding advantage at Zandvoort and then watched that advantage shrink to only four points following Thruxton and Donington.

His response separated the eventual champion from the rest. Four victories across Croft and Silverstone gave Wherrell little opportunity to capitalise, while Van Langendonck’s eight wins across the full season were more than double the total achieved by any rival.

Wherrell provided the strongest sustained challenge and led the championship after Silverstone, while Palmer’s outstanding finish to the year ultimately rewarded him with second. Proudford-Nalder, Jeff-Hall, Lennon, Lindblom and a host of other winners ensured the battle behind remained unpredictable throughout.

Hitech’s Teams’ Championship reflected that depth. While Rodin possessed the outright champion, Hitech repeatedly scored through multiple cars and converted that consistency into a 125.5-point title margin.

Thirty races, 13 winners and 19 podium finishers ultimately produced a season that combined depth with a clear final benchmark. Van Langendonck leaves 2026 as both British F4 and Rookie Cup champion, while Hitech’s collective strength secured the other major championship prize.
