MP Motorsport has confirmed that Matteo De Palo will join its line-up for the 2027 FIA Formula 3 (F3) Championship, with the Italian set to embark on his second season in the category.

De Palo will return to the championship after a challenging rookie campaign with TRIDENT in 2026, finishing 24th in the Drivers’ Championship. His best result came at Silverstone, where he secured fourth place in the Sprint Race.

The move to MP Motorsport will give De Palo an opportunity to build on his first year of experience in FIA Formula 3, joining a team that finished the 2026 season strongly.

Before stepping up to F3, De Palo established himself as a competitive force in the junior single-seater ranks. The Italian finished runner-up in the Formula Regional European Championship (FREC), collecting four victories and 11 podium finishes during his campaign.

De Palo will now look to translate that previous success and his experience from the 2026 FIA Formula 3 season into stronger results with MP Motorsport next year.

Team change from TRIDENT to MP Motorsport for De Palo

The Italian said he was excited to join the Dutch outfit, pointing to its performances during the second half of the 2026 campaign as a key factor in his decision.

“I’m really excited to join MP Motorsport for my second year in FIA F3”, said De Palo. “Especially in the second half of this season, they were among the teams to beat, finishing the year on a high with victory, so I aim to do my part in maintaining that kind of form into 2027.

“It’s a Dutch team, but with an Italian flavour on the engineering side – I like that! The team is renowned for their welcoming atmosphere, so I’m sure I will feel right at home from the start.”

MP Motorsport Team Principal Sander Dorsman welcomed De Palo to the team, highlighting their previous encounters in the junior categories and the experience the Italian will bring into 2027.

“It’s a delight to welcome Matteo into our Formula 3 squad for 2027. Looking back on his career, having competed with him in F4 Spanish and the Formula Regional European Championship, I’m pleased that he’s on our side now, as he’s always been a fierce competitor. I’m convinced that he will put his year of F3 experience to good use to help us to continue our forward trajectory in the championship.”

De Palo will now prepare for his second FIA Formula 3 campaign, with MP Motorsport aiming to build on its late-season momentum as the team targets further success in 2027.
