Algarve Pro Racing will retain its European Le Mans Series (ELMS) LMP2 Pro/Am championship-winning trio of Michael Jensen, Enzo Trulli and Malthe Jakobsen for the 2026/27 Asian Le Mans Series (ALMS). The three drivers will reunite in the team’s No. 25 Oreca 07-Gibson as the Portuguese outfit pursues further championship success.

The team confirmed the line-up on Monday, 26 October, following an impressive 2026 campaign across several major endurance racing championships. With six Asian Le Mans Series titles already to its name, Algarve Pro Racing now aims to extend its record with a seventh triumph.

Moreover, the announcement marks the first of three LMP2 driver combinations that Algarve Pro Racing will field during the upcoming six-round championship, which will take place entirely in Europe.

Algarve Pro Racing targets seventh Asian Le Mans Series title

Algarve Pro Racing has chosen continuity as the foundation of its latest championship challenge. By retaining Jensen, Trulli and Jakobsen, the team will carry an established partnership into the winter campaign rather than introduce a new driver combination.

The trio’s recent European success strengthens the team’s ambitions, particularly as Algarve Pro Racing prepares to challenge for another overall LMP2 title in a competitive field.

Team principal Stewart Cox emphasised the team’s determination to maintain its winning momentum while confirming its commitment to another three-car programme.

“The whole team, though, is still hungry for more, and we’re carrying forward into the Asian Le Mans Series with three cars again, all with excellent driver lineups. Announcing the first as a trio of reigning ELMS champions is excellent.

“We want that seventh title win, and we will be bringing three crews that can help us to get it.”

Alongside the No. 25 Oreca, Algarve Pro Racing will operate the No. 20 entry and the No. 4 CrowdStrike Racing by APR programme. The team has already named John Falb and George Kurtz as drivers for those respective entries, while the remaining driver announcements will complete its three-car assault.

Consequently, Algarve Pro Racing will approach the new season with multiple opportunities to extend its success in the championship.

ELMS title success provides momentum for Jensen, Trulli and Jakobsen

The decision to retain the trio follows their dramatic triumph in the 2026 ELMS LMP2 Pro/Am championship. Jensen, Trulli and Jakobsen secured the title at the season-ending 4 Hours of Portimão, where a late change in the class classification ultimately determined the championship.

The Algarve Pro Racing crew entered the finale six points behind the championship leaders. However, a last-lap track-limits penalty for TDS Racing promoted the No. 20 Oreca to class victory, allowing Jensen, Trulli and Jakobsen to claim the championship.

Their victory lifted Algarve Pro Racing to 86 points, nine clear of TDS Racing in the final LMP2 Pro/Am standings.

Furthermore, the result capped a competitive European campaign in which the trio also secured victory at Barcelona and consistently challenged at the front of the category.

Having demonstrated their ability to perform under championship pressure, the three drivers will now turn their attention to another title challenge with Algarve Pro Racing.

Three drivers bring championship experience and individual ambitions

Michael Jensen will once again fulfil the FIA Bronze-rated driver role in the No. 25 Oreca. The Danish driver brings considerable experience to the programme, having already claimed the 2024 ELMS LMP3 championship before securing the 2024/25 Asian Le Mans Series LMP2 title with Algarve Pro Racing.

His latest European championship adds another achievement to his endurance racing career. Furthermore, his existing relationships with Trulli, Jakobsen and the team provide a strong foundation for the upcoming campaign.

Meanwhile, Enzo Trulli will aim to build on a successful first season in European LMP2 competition. The Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific Selected Driver secured the 2026 ELMS LMP2 Pro/Am crown alongside Jensen and Jakobsen, adding to the experience he gained during his earlier Asian Le Mans Series campaign.

Trulli previously outlined his ambitions for his first ELMS season, emphasising the importance of consistency and teamwork in a highly competitive category. Having now secured the European title, the Italian will pursue another championship with the same driver combination.

Jakobsen, however, enters the winter campaign with an opportunity to extend an exceptional individual record. The Dane has claimed the Asian Le Mans Series LMP2 Drivers’ Championship in each of the previous three seasons, all with Algarve Pro Racing-entered machinery.

A fourth consecutive title would therefore extend his winning streak and strengthen his place in the championship’s history.

Together, the three drivers combine previous Asian Le Mans Series success with their recent European championship triumph, giving Algarve Pro Racing an experienced and familiar crew for its latest campaign.

Algarve Pro Racing builds on an exceptional 2026 season

Beyond its European championship success, Algarve Pro Racing has enjoyed a remarkable year across endurance racing competitions in Europe, Asia and North America.

The team secured four major championship titles during 2026, including the 2025/26 Asian Le Mans Series LMP2 crown, the ELMS LMP2 Pro/Am championship, the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship LMP2 title and the Michelin Endurance Cup.

Additionally, its programmes celebrated major class victories at the Rolex 24 at Daytona, the 24 Hours of Le Mans and Motul Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta.

Across the season, Algarve Pro Racing accumulated nine race and class victories alongside a further 14 podium finishes. Notably, the team’s Asian Le Mans Series campaign also produced an impressive overall 1-2-3 finish at Dubai in January.

Reflecting on those achievements, Cox praised the collective efforts of the team across its international programmes.

“2026 has been an amazing year for the whole team, in Asia, in Europe and in the USA, with four major championship titles and huge endurance race wins at Le Mans, Daytona and Road Atlanta,”

The results highlight Algarve Pro Racing’s ability to compete for victories across different championships and racing environments. Nevertheless, the team’s attention now shifts towards sustaining that success in the upcoming winter season.

European winter calendar presents a new challenge

The 2026/27 Asian Le Mans Series will introduce an unusual geographical challenge as the championship stages all six races in Europe. Organisers have moved the series away from its traditional Middle Eastern venues amid ongoing regional uncertainty.

According to the official Asian Le Mans Series calendar, Circuit Paul Ricard in France will host the opening two rounds from 13–15 November 2026.

The championship will then travel to Circuito de Jerez in Spain for rounds three and four from 15–17 January 2027. Finally, the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve in Portugal will host the concluding double-header from 19–21 February 2027.

Each event will feature two four-hour races, creating a demanding six-race campaign across three weekends.

Furthermore, Algarve Pro Racing will face considerable competition in the LMP2 category. The championship has confirmed a maximum 47-car full-season entry, including 16 LMP2 prototypes, 29 GT3 cars and two Ferrari 499Ps competing in the new Hypercar category.

The 47-car entry includes several established endurance racing teams, increasing the importance of consistency across the six rounds.

For Algarve Pro Racing, the European calendar also offers a familiar setting for its drivers and personnel. In particular, the final event at Portimão will bring the championship to the team’s home circuit, where Jensen, Trulli and Jakobsen recently celebrated their ELMS title.

With a proven championship-winning crew, three LMP2 entries and considerable momentum from its 2026 achievements, Algarve Pro Racing will enter the new Asian Le Mans Series season determined to secure its seventh championship title.
