Enzo Trulli will make his European Le Mans Series debut with Algarve Pro Racing during the 2026 season after moving from single-seater competition into endurance racing.

The 20-year-old Italian will contest the LMP2 Pro/Am category alongside Michael Jensen and Malthe Jakobsen. His first ELMS race will take place at the 4 Hours of Barcelona in April.

Trulli has already gained experience in the Oreca 07-Gibson through the ELMS Rookie Test and the 2025/26 Asian Le Mans Series. He will now carry that preparation into a six-round European campaign.

Trulli continues his transition into endurance racing

Trulli arrived in sportscar racing after several seasons in single-seaters, during which he won the Formula 4 UAE title and claimed two Euroformula victories.

He then joined Algarve Pro Racing for the ELMS Rookie Test at Portimão following the conclusion of the 2025 season. Trulli finished third-fastest overall in the morning session as he adapted to the additional power, weight and downforce of the Oreca 07-Gibson.

The son of Monaco Grand Prix winner Jarno Trulli subsequently joined the Portuguese team in the Asian Le Mans Series. Alongside Tom Dillmann and reigning ALMS LMP2 champion Michael Jensen, he secured two second-place finishes in Malaysia and moved into the next round in Dubai second in the championship standings.

Algarve Pro Racing forms its ELMS line-up

Trulli will reunite with Jensen in the European Le Mans Series, while Peugeot Hypercar driver Jakobsen will complete Algarve Pro Racing’s LMP2 Pro/Am crew.

The Italian has worked with both drivers since he began testing with the team. He highlighted Jensen’s previous experience at the ELMS circuits and outlined how the three drivers plan to contribute to the programme.

“I’m really happy to be racing with Michael (Jensen) and Malthe (Jakobsen) in the 2026 European Le Mans Series. I have known them both since I started tested with Algarve Pro Racing a year ago and, with Michael as our Bronze, I’m feeling positive about our package. Michael’s experience of all the circuits from his years in LMP3 will put him on a strong footing, and I think Malthe and I can help him progress further.

If we make no mistakes and improve in each session, we will have a good season.”

The trio will compete in a 12-car LMP2 Pro/Am field as Algarve Pro Racing expands its 2026 ELMS programme.

Asian Le Mans Series provides race preparation

Trulli has used his Asian Le Mans Series campaign to gain mileage in LMP2 machinery before beginning his first ELMS season.

The Asian championship features two races on each event weekend, which allows drivers to apply lessons from the opening contest in the second race. Trulli explained that the format has accelerated his development while also acknowledging the differences he will face in Europe.

“Competing with Algarve Pro Racing in the 2025-26 Asian Le Mans Series has been an extremely important part of my preparations for my maiden ELMS season. The fact there are two back-to-back races each weekend helps rookies like me learn quickly, implementing what we learn on Saturday in Sunday’s race. I will take a lot of lessons forward into the ELMS but there will still be a lot to learn because the tracks and the racing are different, especially with the LMP2 and LMP2 Pro-Am class split.”

The ELMS separates its LMP2 and LMP2 Pro/Am entries into two classifications, while both categories use the same Oreca 07-Gibson package.

Trulli looks forward to Spa and Imola

The 2026 European Le Mans Series calendar will take Trulli to Barcelona, Le Castellet, Imola, Spa-Francorchamps, Silverstone and Portimão.

Each circuit will present different characteristics, from tyre degradation in Barcelona to Silverstone’s high-speed layout. Meanwhile, Imola will give Trulli a home race in Italy, and Portimão will host Algarve Pro Racing’s home round.

However, Trulli identified Spa-Francorchamps as the venue he most wants to visit during his debut campaign.

“The ELMS calendar consists of amazing circuits – the best in Europe, I would say. I’m most looking forward to Spa-Francorchamps because it’s my favourite track and Imola because it’s my home race and it has a tough, old-school layout. Then there’s Portimao, which is Algarve Pro’s home race and a place at which we have good pace. The truth is, every round will be special and different, Barcelona serving up high tyre degradation and Silverstone with its fast nature.”

The season will begin with the 4 Hours of Barcelona on 12 April before concluding at Portimão in October.

Strong LMP2 Pro/Am field awaits Algarve Pro Racing

Trulli will enter an expanded LMP2 Pro/Am category that includes 12 cars for the 2026 season. The field features reigning champions AO by TF, alongside established teams such as Duqueine Team, AF Corse, TDS Racing, United Autosports and CLX Motorsport.

Only the top 10 finishers will score championship points at each round. Therefore, Trulli stressed the importance of avoiding errors and delivering consistently across the season.

“The high level of competition in the 2026 ELMS is great because we can really show how good Algarve Pro Racing is. Only the top ten finishers score points, and we cannot afford to make any mistakes in such a competitive field. I’m expecting AO by TF and Duqueine Team to be big threats, but the entire entry is looking strong and it’s up to each team to deliver flawless performances.”

Trulli, Jensen and Jakobsen will begin their ELMS programme when the championship opens at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
