Citroën Racing has unveiled its final GEN4 livery ahead of 2026/27 Formula E season. They have also confirmed changes to its sporting leadership structure.

The French manufacturer will enter its second Formula E campaign with evolved design, alongside Beth Paretta’s appointment as Team Principal. Frédéric Espinos will also join the team as Competition Director and Deputy Team Principal.

Citroën Racing evolves GEN4 livery

Following a debut season that saw Citroën finish fifth in Teams’ Championship with several podiums and a pole position, the manufacturer has opted to evolve rather than completely redesign its Formula E identity.

The new GEN4 livery retains Citroën’s blue, white and red colour scheme. However, the chevrons have been given a more dynamic appearance to complement the shape of the new single-seater. Blue also features more prominently on the nose.

Citroën’s production-car design team was involved in developing new identity, creating visual connection between its road cars and Formula E programme.

Pierre Leclercq, Head of Citroën Design, said the aim was to retain the identity established during the team’s first season while adapting it to GEN4’s more dynamic character.

The livery also incorporates metallic finishes and a gradient based on the chevrons, with their density changing progressively between different shades.

GEN4 brings increased performance

Citroën has highlighted the technical capabilities of GEN4 car, which will make its competitive Formula E debut in Season 13.

The car will produce 450 kW in race conditions. Meanwhile, qualifying and Attack Mode will allow up to 600 kW, equivalent to 815 hp. Citroën also lists a 0–100 km/h time of 1.8 seconds and a top speed exceeding 335 km/h.

The Citroën GEN4 car will feature 700 kW of regenerative braking, two aerodynamic modes and permanent all-wheel drive.

The livery itself has also been designed with efficiency in mind. Citroën says team worked to minimise the weight of the wrap, while parametric chevron design allows colour transitions without unnecessarily increasing the number of material layers.

Citroën Gen4 final car will be displayed publicly for the first time at the Paris Motor Show in Hall 4.

Beth Paretta appointed Team Principal

Citroën has also strengthened its leadership structure ahead of the new Gen4 Formula E era.

Beth Paretta, who served as Managing Director during Citroën Racing’s debut season, will now take on role of Team Principal while continuing as Managing Director.

Paretta brings experience from both the automotive and motorsport industries. Before joining Citroën Racing, she served as Vice President of Sporting at Formula E, working with teams, manufacturers and FIA.

She also founded Paretta Autosport in 2021, which made its Indianapolis 500 debut with workforce comprising more than 65% women. Her previous senior roles include positions with Volkswagen Group, Aston Martin and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles.

Speaking about the beginning of the GEN4 era, Paretta said the new Citroën car represents a major opportunity for Formula E.

“GEN4 brings a huge opportunity for the entire championship. This is much more than an evolution of the previous car: it is faster, more powerful and technologically more advanced, and it will change the way we approach race weekends.”

Paretta added that Citroën Racing’s objective is to translate team’s preparation and Stellantis Motorsport’s expertise into competitive performance from start of Season 13.

Frédéric Espinos joins Citroën Racing

Alongside Paretta, Frédéric Espinos will join Citroën Racing as Competition Director and Deputy Team Principal.

Espinos has extensive experience within Formula E. He had worked with the FIA during the championship’s early years before joining the series organisation as Sporting Director. In 2022, he moved to ABT, initially as Sporting Director before becoming Deputy Team Principal at Lola Yamaha ABT.

Espinos said he was proud to join Citroën Racing at an important stage of its development.

“This is a project that brings together many of the ingredients needed to succeed: a brand with a strong motorsport heritage, an experienced team, two top-level drivers and a clear ambition as we enter the GEN4 era.”

He added that his immediate objective is to ensure the team is ready from the beginning of the new season.

Citroën Racing targets strong GEN4 start

Citroën will retain Jean-Éric Vergne and Nick Cassidy for its second Formula E campaign. This gives the team continuity alongside its revised leadership structure.

The manufacturer will therefore enter Season 13 with an evolved car, a strengthened management team and same driver pairing that delivered its first Formula E victory and multiple podiums during its debut campaign.

With GEN4 bringing increased power, all-wheel drive and revised aerodynamic capabilities, Citroën Racing will now look to build on its first-season foundations when new era begins.
