After a strong performance in Berlin, Envision drivers Sebastian Buemi and Joel Eriksson are seeking to progress further up the Formula E field ahead of the 2026 Monaco E-Prix.
Having claimed victory last season while also being the most successful Formula E driver around the principality, Swiss driver Sebastian Buemi remains particularly confident of delivering a strong result.
A Formula E masterclass at Monaco last season
Last season it was Buemi putting on a display around the Monte Carlo Streets for the Monaco E-Prix. The Envision driver claimed Envision’s first race win since the last race of 2023 and his first race win since 2019.
Having started eighth on the grid, Buemi charged up the field at the start, finding himself sitting fifth after ten laps.
Attack mode though was where the Swiss driver made his progress, taking four minutes worth with nine laps remaining to charge up to the front of the field.
From there, Buemi was unstoppable, taking Envision to the top step of the podium around the principality, a circuit which he is proclaimed to be the master of.
“I have a lot of special memories in Monaco,” said Buemi. “Especially last season getting my first win with the team, and it’s always great coming back to such an iconic circuit.”
“The racing in Formula E is always exciting and unpredictable, and its even more so in Monaco, with plenty of overtaking opportunity.”
Monaco E-Prix debut for Eriksson
Having spent several seasons on the side-lines in a reserve driver role, Swedish driver Eriksson will make his debut around the Monte Carlo circuit.
Ahead of the Monaco E-Prix, the Swede sits twelfth in the Formula E championship standings as Eriksson seeks to catch up to his Envision teammate who is 35 points up the road in ninth.
“I’m very excited to race in Monaco for the first time in my career,” Eriksson said.
“It is such a historic venue and one that I have dreamt of racing at for so many years.”
Points, progress and podiums for Envision
The potential Envision has shown across this Formula E season is prevalent for all to see.
Buemi has managed points in all but two races this season along with a strong performance in Jeddah which saw the Envision driver charge from seventh to second. As a result, Buemi sits comfortably in ninth, twenty points adrift of Nico Muller who holds fifth spot.
His teammate Eriksson is the second highest placed rookie this season. A season the best finish of fourth in Miami E-Prix displayed the Swede’s pace behind the car but since then, only two points finishes have followed.
“We showed strong pace last time out in Berlin,” said the 27 year-old. “We’re heading into the second half of the season with lots of motivation to build on this and bring home more good results.”
Buemi echoed his teammates views saying “We’ve made a lot of progress this season, and we’ll be giving it everything we can to deliver a strong result this weekend and to continue that form.”
