Formula E heads into Rounds 9 and 10 this weekend, as CUPRA KIRO looks to maintain their strong momentum at the Monaco E-Prix. The duo have been delivering solid performances in Jeddah, Madrid, and Berlin, but they hope to score higher points on the iconic streets of Monte Carlo.
High expectations for CUPRA KIRO at the Monaco E-Prix
Last year, Dan Ticktum reached the duels in Qualifying in both Race 1 and 2. Race 1 saw the Brit in P7, while Race 2 finished with a P15 result. As Pepe Martí is a rookie, this will be his first time driving a Formula E car around the principality. The Monaco circuit is one where the Qualifying becomes immensely important. Still, the Attack Mode and Pit Boost, offers plenty of opportunities for the drivers.
Speaking ahead of the weekend, Ticktum has high hopes for Monaco.
“Monaco is the race that every driver wants to win, and I’m really looking forward to this weekend. Last season, Monaco was something of a breakthrough weekend for us, and I’m quietly optimistic that we can be competitive there again. So far this season, luck just hasn’t been on our side at all, and if it hadn’t been for the technical issue, we could have been on the podium in Berlin. I think we’ve prepared well as a team, and I’m feeling good. Now, we just need to get into a rhythm and hopefully score some big results.”
Martí excited to race in Monaco
While it might be Martí’s first time driving a Formula E car here, the racer is more than familiar with the narrow streets. The Spaniard raced there in both Formula 3 and Formula 2, giving him plenty of experience. Still, it will be a slightly new experience on a familiar track.
“I’m very excited to race in Monaco this weekend. Monaco is potentially the most famous racing circuit in the world, and it’s one that I enjoy. I’ve raced at Monaco three times and won here in FIA Formula 3, but with the track being quite narrow, driving a Formula E car in the Principality is going to be a very new but very fun experience, especially with the car being quite small. All in all, Monaco is going to be one of the highlights of this season, and after learning from Berlin, I’m sure we’ll be able to score more points.”
The team have been building a steady and consistent performance throughout the first half of the season. CUPRA KIRO will be ready to fight for more points at the Monaco E-Prix.
