Joshua Dürksen claimed his second win of the weekend during the F2 Feature Race at the 2026 Italian GP, view the full report here.
The Monza round began with an unpredictable Sprint Race as Joshua Dürksen took victory ahead of John Bennett and Oliver Goethe. The race saw two retirements and two Safety Cars, as Roman Bilinski crashed at Ascari and Rafael Câmara suffered an engine issue.
Now, after a competitive Qualifying session, Câmara lined up on pole for the Feature Race, starting alongside teammate Dürksen in P2 and Alex Dunne in P3. Martinius Stenshorne started P4, with Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak completing the top five.
However, post-Qualifying penalties reshuffled the starting grid, with Gabriele Minì, Mari Boya, Dino Beganovic, Noel León, Sebastián Montoya, Kush Maini, and Nikola Tsolov each serving a three-place grid penalty for various reasons.
The 2026 F2 Italian GP Feature Race gets underway
As the five lights went out, Câmara and Dürksen both got a strong start, with Dürksen soon taking the lead as Câmara ran wide at Turn 1. Behind, Inthraphuvasak jumped from P5 to P3 as Dunne and Stenshorne suffered slow starts.
The field managed to smoothly make their way through the opening lap. However, the start of Lap 2 saw Dürksen lock up at Turn 1, allowing Câmara and Inthraphuvasak to close the gap. Câmara and Dürksen soon took turns reclaiming P1 as Inthraphuvasak and Dunne watched from behind.
As the pit-stop window opened on Lap 6, Invicta Racing opted to pit Dürksen first, switching from supersoft to soft tyres. Dunne, León, Bennett, Minì, Colton Herta, Cian Shields, and Nico Varrone followed. Replays showed Herta sustained front-wing damage after running wide through the exit of the Ascari chicane.
Drivers complete their mandatory pit stop
By Lap 10, all but Emerson Fittipaldi and Kush Maini completed their pit stop, with Câmara rejoining behind Dürksen. Further back, Inthraphuvasak dropped down to P8 after losing position to Bennett, Ritomo Miyata, and Nikola Tsolov.
Drama struck on Lap 13 with Herta triggering a Safety Car after finding the barrier at Parabolica and stopping in the gravel. Herta became the first DNF of the 2026 F2 Italian GP Feature Race. Meanwhile, Dürksen returned to lead, with Fittipaldi completing his pit stop and coming out in P7. Despite taking his pit stop, AIX Racing opted to pit the Brazilian again, applying fresh soft tyres.
Safety Car restart
Racing resumed on Lap 16 with Dürksen storming off at Parabolica. The Paraguayan driver immediately created a significant gap, running 1.3s clear of Câmara. Behind, Dunne briefly attempted to fight Câmara for position before locking up at Turn 4 and losing a place to León.
At the same time, drivers in the lower end of the field began to battle for position. Rafael Villagómez and Maini made contact, while Varrone and Goethe battled for the final points-paying spot.
However, putting his poor restart behind him, Câmara slowly began to close down the 1.3-second gap. León followed, staying close to the P2 driver. The top three were soon within DRS range of each other, with five laps left to settle the Round 10 Feature Race winner.
Invicta Racing allows their drivers to fight it out on track
León dropped back by Lap 28, leaving the Invicta Racing teammates at the front. However, while the two battled for the win, a DRS train formed behind Bennett in P4. Eager to take P4, Miyata overtook Dunne for P5 on the main straight.
Entering the final lap, Race Control handed Stenshorne a 10-second time penalty for causing an earlier collision. Though at the front, Dürksen managed to hold off Câmara to take his second win of the 2026 F2 Italian GP. Câmara finished P2, making it an Invicta Racing 1-2 Feature Race, as León completed the podium.
Notably, the race winner ended his weekend with a dramatic exit, as Dürksen was forced to pull onto the side of the track during his celebratory lap as his Invicta Racing car caught fire.
