Nikola Tsolov started from pole position alongside Laurens van Hoepen for the 2026 F2 Miami GP Sprint Race. With Formula 2 racing in Miami for the first time in its history, it was Tsolov who claimed the Sprint Race victory.
Following the reverse-grid format from Friday’s Qualifying session, Ollie Goethe and Joshua Dürksen lined up on the second row.
There was early drama before the race began, as Friday’s pole sitter Kushi Maini was unable to get his ART Grand Prix car started for the formation lap. Maini was forced to start from the pit lane, dropping to the back of the field.
At the front, Tsolov led the opening laps while van Hoepen stayed close behind. On Lap 6, Dürksen overtook van Hoepen for P2 at Turn 17, but only held the position for a lap before van Hoepen retook the place after Dürksen pushed too hard on his tyres.
Further back, Goethe, Bilinski, Herta and Bennett battled over positions 11 to 14.
Villagómez and Inthraphuvasak both retired from the Sprint Race on Lap 10. Maini retired from the race soon after. Fittipaldi retired on Lap 17 with front suspension damage, and also was handed a 10-second time penalty that he did not serve.
In the closing lap, Van Hoepen, Tsolov and Dunne battled back and forth for the lead of the race in the last few corners, but it was Tsolov who claimed the victory of the F2 Sprint Race.
