It‘s Day 2 of the first ever Formula E double-header in the history of the Monaco E-Prix, as FP3 in the principality went underway. Mitch Evans set the fastest time of the session, as he is followed by Jake Dennis in second place and Nyck de Vries rounding of the Top 3.

In FP1 and FP2, Dan Ticktum went fastest in both sessions, being a surprise contender for Race 1’s pole position. However, McLaren’s super talent Taylor Barnard took it instead, while Oliver Rowland won the dramatic race.

Green light for final practice

Reigning world champion Pascal Wehrlein led the grid to the grid for the first few build laps. Rain was predicted and it started to in the pit lane. Rowland went straight at the first corner due to a front right lock-up, pushing the limits a bit too much.

With 30 minutes to go, first 1:29-lap times came in. Jake Dennis of Andretti led the wax with a 1:29.244 before full course yellow was deployed briefly. Zane Maloney was blocked by Robin Frijns and drove into the back of the Envison. Front wing damage, the debris needed to be cleaned up quickly. Frijns was not informed by the team that Maloney was on a flying lap, due to GPS issues.

First representative lap times finally came in, as Nick Cassidy of Jaguar put in a 1:26.920, around five tenths off Barnard’s pole lap time for Race 1. The New Zealander was more happy with the car than yesterday. His lap time now was beaten by Barnard, but the time has been deleted for track limits.

Halfway through the session

De Vries with a strong lap jumped to P2, just 0.023 seconds behind Cassidy. Unfortunately, Ticktum had a big snap of oversteer at Turn 15, went straight at Turn 16 and stopped at the Rascasse. He caused a red flag due to his stoppage and is out. On the steering wheel, there was an alarm, probably a software issue.

The Cupra Kiro has been pushed into the pit lane by the marshals. Green flags returned with seven minutes to go. In fact, the session has not been extended by one or two more minutes due to the red flag.

Drivers immediately went for 350kw runs, practising for qualifying that is upcoming soon. Mitch Evans into P1 with a 1:26.614. Meanwhile, David Beckmann also went straight into the run-off area at Turn 1.

The qualifying for Round 7 is incoming, tune in!
