The Formula E grid gets ready to set the grid for the upcoming Shanghai E-Prix with Qualifying. Will Pascal Wehrlein manage to snatch a second pole in a row, or will instead championship leader Evans rebuild part of his earlier gap to the German?
Group A tackles the Formula E Qualifying challenge in Shanghai
As the session starts, immediately all drivers available get out on track to adapt to the mixed conditions. While al,softball drivers cycled at the lead, ultimately Mueller, Barnard, Martí and Rowland are the ones to proceed to the next stage.
Group B gets on track too
Wehrlein is fastest with three minutes kept to go from Drugovich, Nato and Buemi. The Envision gets kicked out of the top 4 by Ticktum, as the rain intensify. Ultimately in the final moments of the session, Buemi and Mortara cycle in the final duel advancing position.
Quarter finals on
Young talents Martí and Barnard face off in the first duel of the day. The Brit began the first sector with a 0.146s advantage, which grew to almost two tenths in the second sector and rounded off to an impressive amount for the DS Penske driver ahead of the end of the lap.
Mueller and Rowland are on next, as the track begins to dry compared to FP3. The Nissan man began with a positive lead, but as the German tried to close his distance, it was useless as Rowland ended his attempt with 0.300s on him
Thrid Quarter Final sees Nato and Drugovich on. The Frenchman lost three tents while completing the first sector, While the Nissan tried to close the gap, he was overall unsuccessful, with the Brazilian advancing.
Two of the latest best performing in Qualy are finally, Wehrlein and Mortara. There was no history, as the German secured an additional 0.4s lead on the Mahindra man per sector, smashing his final lap time by 1.5s.
An earlier incident at Turn 10 between Ticktum and Buemi is investigated.
Semi Finals
Barnard and Rowland share the Shanghai track for the first one. The younger began with a slight advantage over the reigning Formula E champion, with the Nissan man making a mistake as he tries to close his gap.
Drugovich and Wehrlein get on track shortly after, Unexpectedly, it was a very close Duel in the two first sectors between the two contenders, with the Andretti man finding three tenths in the final sector to kick the German out of Qualifying and try to secure his first Formula E pole in Shanghai.
In the meantime, Nato is investigated for technical infringement

Barnard
Barnard and Drugovich take finally the track to decide the pole position. Drugovich began his lap with a slight advantage of 0.07s over the Brit, however, as the DS Penske talent makes a slight middle sector mistake, The Brazilian manages to build a 0.5s lead to secure his first pole position in the championship.
It is definitely a very positive rookie session for Drugovich, taking home his first three Qualifying points after his first podium and almost another such positive result under the belt in Sanya.
