Enzo Hallman delivered a composed performance to secure second place at Silverstone, continuing a positive weekend in the 2026 GB4 Championship. Although repeated Safety Car interruptions limited racing opportunities, the Hillspeed driver maximised his position and maintained strong pace throughout. Nevertheless, Hallman recognised that the race circumstances prevented him from fully challenging for victory.
Safety Cars limit opportunities for Hallman in 2026 GB4 Silverstone opener
From the outset, Hallman identified a potential opportunity to pressure race leader Fred Green, particularly given the tyre differences. However, the timing of the Safety Car ultimately worked against him.
“No, I mean, mostly Safety Cars, a little bit ruined my race,” he said in his post-race trackside interview with GB4. “We were on scrubbed tyres. He [Fred Green] has two new, so I knew he would have had a bit of a problem getting them in when it’s so cold outside. So I thought that that was only the first lap. Maybe I could have passed him, but the Safety Car came out, and he got to scrubbing his tyres.”
As a result, Hallman lost a key chance to capitalise on the early phase of the race, when tyre warm-up proved critical. However, despite the frustration, Hallman expressed satisfaction with his second-place finish and overall performance across the weekend. He pointed to earlier setbacks but emphasised the progress made.
“So, yeah, I’m still happy. It’s a P2, and we’ve done a great weekend so far. Yesterday, we had a bit of an unlucky start. We got on the outside, got some dirt on the tyres and dropped back and couldn’t really gain the positions back. So, yeah, I’m happy with the P2.”
Therefore, the result represents both consistency and recovery, strengthening his early championship position.
Looking ahead, Hallman has adopted a measured and pragmatic approach for the reverse grid race. Rather than setting specific targets, he intends to maximise points wherever possible.
“I will just try to do my best, take as much points as I can, and let’s see.”
Cold conditions add complexity
In addition to race interruptions, Hallman highlighted the significant impact of colder temperatures on car behaviour. The contrast with previous conditions created an added challenge, particularly during tyre warm-up phases. Consequently, drivers had to adapt quickly to reduced grip levels, making consistency even more difficult to achieve.
“Yeah, it’s another thing. Especially getting the tyres in is really hard, especially coming out of the pits. It’s really slippery. So, yeah, it’s a bit different. Straight off the pit, when it’s warm outside, it’s quite easy to get the tyres in, and you instantly have grip. Now you have, like, zero grip. So, yeah, it’s a big difference.”
Overall, Hallman’s performance underlined both resilience and adaptability. While the race circumstances limited his chances of victory, his ability to secure a podium keeps his momentum intact heading into the next contest.
