As reported by Sportscar365, High Class Racing has entered a new partnership with Michelotto Engineering and Isotta Fraschini, opening the door for the Tipo 6 LMH-C to return to competition for the first time since 2024.
The Hypercar, developed by Michelotto, made its FIA World Endurance Championship debut in 2024 under the Isotta Fraschini name with Duqueine. It achieved its best result at that year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans, where it finished 13th.
However, the Tipo 6 LMH-C has not raced since the following FIA WEC round in Brazil. Now, the new technical development agreement gives the car a potential route back to the grid as High Class Racing explores a future at the top level of endurance racing. Reports have also linked the programme with the Asian Le Mans Series’ new Hypercar class, which will debut in the 2026/27 season.
Fjordbach praises High Class Racing’s growth
High Class Racing has built much of its modern endurance racing profile in LMP2, where it competed with the Oreca 07 Gibson across championships including the FIA WEC, IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and European Le Mans Series.
The Danish team currently races in the Michelin Le Mans Cup in both LMP3 and LMGT3, while it also competes in the Intercontinental GT Challenge. Therefore, a move towards Hypercar would represent a significant expansion of its ambitions.
Team owner Anders Fjordbach said the partnership reflects the work that has helped the Barcelona-based operation grow across different championships and categories.
“I am incredibly proud of the dedication and commitment shown by our team in Barcelona, which has been the foundation of our growth over the years,” said team owner Anders Fjordbach.
“Through hard work and perseverance, we have successfully partnered with multiple manufacturers and competed across a wide range of championships and categories on six continents around the world.
“Now, we are excited to embark on a new chapter with the Tipo 6 LMH-C, and there is no one better to take this journey with than our valued partners at Michelotto Engineering and Isotta Fraschini Milano.
“We have been highly impressed not only by the on-track performance of the Tipo 6 LMH-C, but also by the professionalism, passion, and dedication demonstrated by our new partners at Michelotto Engineering and Isotta Fraschini Milano.
“Together, we look forward to building a successful future and taking on new challenges at the highest level of endurance racing.”
Tipo 6 LMH-C could return after short WEC spell
The Tipo 6 LMH-C raced only briefly in FIA WEC competition. Isotta Fraschini and Duqueine introduced the car in the Hypercar category in 2024, with the project bringing one of motoring’s historic names back to international endurance racing.
The car uses a V6 twin-turbo hybrid LMH platform and was built with support from Michelotto Engineering. Its 2024 WEC campaign ended after the 6 Hours of São Paulo, and Isotta Fraschini later withdrew from the championship before the remainder of the season.
Despite that early exit, the Tipo 6 LMH-C did complete the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2024. That finish remains the car’s strongest result to date and gives High Class Racing, Michelotto and Isotta Fraschini a proven platform to develop further.
Hypercar ambitions mark a major step for High Class Racing
High Class Racing’s move towards the Tipo 6 LMH-C underlines its desire to compete beyond prototype and GT customer programmes. Although the team has not confirmed a future series for the car, the agreement reinforces its ambition to join endurance racing’s highest level.
The Asian Le Mans Series could provide one possible route. The championship plans to add a Hypercar class later this season, which may offer the Tipo 6 LMH-C a more accessible competitive return before any potential FIA WEC comeback.
However, a return to the WEC would require a larger commitment. Since last year, manufacturers in the top class have needed to field two cars, meaning the Tipo 6 LMH-C would require a two-car entry to rejoin the championship’s premier category.
Michelotto and Isotta Fraschini remain central to project
Michelotto Engineering and Isotta Fraschini remain crucial to the car’s future. Notably, Michelotto played a central role in developing the Tipo 6 LMH-C, while Isotta Fraschini brought the project into the Hypercar landscape as part of its racing revival.
As a result, High Class Racing joins a programme that already has technical foundations, competitive mileage and Le Mans experience. The next step will involve turning the new partnership into a race plan.
For now, no championship has been formally confirmed. However, the agreement signals renewed life for a car that has not raced since 2024 and gives High Class Racing a potential path into the Hypercar era.
