Schubert Motorsport will field a formidable line-up for the 2026 DTM season as Marco Wittmann and Kelvin van der Linde take the wheel of the team’s two BMW M4 GT3 EVOs. With one of the grid’s most experienced drivers alongside a returning title contender, the German outfit has set its sights firmly on the drivers’, team and manufacturers’ championships.
Van der Linde replaces René Rast and returns to the DTM after a one year absence, marking both a comeback and a fresh chapter in his pursuit of the title.
Building on a near miss
Schubert Motorsport came within touching distance of championship glory in 2025. The team remained in contention until the final race weekend at Hockenheim, where hopes of securing the drivers’ crown ultimately slipped away. Rast exited the title fight following an accident, while Wittmann battled at the front in a dramatic finale and concluded the season fifth in the standings.
Team principal Torsten Schubert now leads another charge at the DTM crown. The team previously secured both the drivers’ and team titles in 2022 and added the team championship again in 2024. After falling short last season, Schubert Motorsport enters 2026 determined to convert competitiveness into silverware.
A title still within reach
Kelvin van der Linde’s DTM record already reflects consistency at the sharp end of the field. He finished third overall in his debut season in 2021 and claimed second place in 2024, narrowly missing out on the drivers’ championship. Now, he returns with unfinished business.
The South African will contest his first DTM campaign in the BMW M4 GT3 EVO and views 2026 as a genuine opportunity to achieve a long standing ambition.
“The DTM is a very special championship for me. It was always my childhood dream to race there and win races. I have achieved both, but the ultimate goal remains: to win the DTM title. Sheldon did it in 2022, and now it’s a kind of homecoming at Schubert Motorsport as I, his brother, will also drive for the team.”
Van der Linde highlights the emotional significance of joining the same team with which his brother Sheldon secured the 2022 title, describing the move as both professional and personal.
“The environment there is fantastic, and I felt very comfortable with the BMW M4 GT3 EVO during the successful 2025 season.”
Confidence in the machinery and familiarity with the team strengthen his belief that he can fight from the outset.
“In 2026, I want to be successful in the DTM right from the start and fulfill my lifelong dream of winning the drivers’ title. I am very excited and can’t wait for the season to begin.”
Experience and motivation combined
Alongside van der Linde, Marco Wittmann brings proven pedigree and deep DTM experience to the Schubert line-up. Together, the pairing offers Schubert Motorsport a balance of continuity and renewed hunger.
After pushing the championship battle to the final round in 2025, the team now aims to turn potential into results. With a competitive BMW M4 GT3 EVO package and two drivers motivated by unfinished objectives, Schubert Motorsport enters the 2026 DTM season intent on reclaiming the crown.
