For rookie Arvid Lindblad, the first half of the 2026 F1 season has proved fruitful, with the Racing Bulls driver enjoying a run of consecutive points-scoring finishes alongside teammate Liam Lawson. Reflecting on their season together so far, Lindblad spoke about his relationship with the New Zealander.
Sitting 11th in the Drivers’ Standings with 23 points, while Lawson is in 9th with 43 points, the duo have collectively amassed 66 points, putting the team 5th in the Constructors’ Standings and leading the midfield battle.
Speaking in a print media session ahead of the Hungarian GP, the Briton revealed that the pair had discussed their closely fought battle at Spa-Francorchamps on two occasions after the race, highlighting the strong relationship they share as teammates.
“Yeah, we spoke about it” Lindblad said. “We honestly have a really good relationship. I think for me, I’ve honestly been positively surprised in that sense.”
“Because when you’re younger, you see so many stories. I think Netflix also makes it a bit worse than it sometimes is. There’s lots of this sort of stuff. But honestly, we get along really well.”
He added: “I have a lot of respect for Liam for that. We raced hard in Spa. As soon as we saw each other after the race, he told me, well done, good race. I think that was really impressive from him.”
A good balance in their relationship on and off track
Lindblad continued by explaining: “I’ve always tried to do the same. When I struggled in qualifying and he was in Q3, I told him, well done, when I saw him. I think we’ve been getting that balance on and off track really good.”
Although both drivers fight hard when their visors are down, Lindblad noted that they share a strong relationship away from the track.
“And yes, when we’re in the car, we fight hard. But off the track, we have a good relationship. We get along well. For sure, some of the TikTok challenges we do helps that bond.”
“So yeah, we did talk about it. When we’re out in the car, we’re normal guys. We don’t really care.”
The rookie has continued to impress with his performances, having extended his points-scoring streak to six consecutive races. Heading into the second half of the season, Lindblad will be hoping to build on this positive trajectory and maintain his strong run of form.
