Singaporean prospect Michael Koh will take his first step into single-seater racing in the 2026 GB4 Championship with Arden Motorsport. At just 16 years old, he embarks on a new chapter, aiming to build on a strong karting foundation. Furthermore, this move signals a major milestone, as he shifts from karting success into one of the UK’s competitive junior formulae.
Karting success builds momentum
Koh began his racing journey at the age of 12, initially competing in junior karting categories. As he progressed, he steadily developed his racecraft and began collecting victories.
Consequently, he finished the 2024 season as vice-champion in the ROK GP Senior Singapore category. In addition, he secured third place in the X30 Asia Senior Championship, further underlining his consistency and competitive edge.
These results paved the way for his transition into car racing, including valuable experience in a Formula 4 testing programme.
Promising start despite new challenges
Although Koh lacks experience on UK circuits compared to many of his rivals, he has already shown encouraging pace during pre-season testing. Notably, he placed inside the top 12 at the first official GB4 test at Snetterton. Therefore, his early performances suggest that he can adapt quickly to both the car and unfamiliar tracks, which will prove crucial over the course of the season.
Significantly, Koh will become the first Singaporean driver to compete in the GB4 Championship. At the same time, he will also be the first from his country to race for Arden Motorsport since the team’s formation in 1997.
He joins a growing line-up at the Banbury-based squad, alongside Solenn Amrouche, as the team prepares to finalise its three-driver roster for the 2026 campaign.
Koh has expressed both gratitude and determination ahead of his debut season, emphasising his desire to develop within a strong team environment.
“I’m really excited to be joining Arden Motorsport for the 2026 GB4 season. It’s a great opportunity for me, and I’m grateful to be part of such a strong and experienced team. I’m looking forward to learning a lot, working closely with everyone at Arden, and continuing to develop as a driver. I can’t wait to get the season started and see what we can achieve together.”
Arden backs young talent
Meanwhile, Arden Motorsport has highlighted Koh’s potential as a key factor in its decision to sign him. Team Principal Garry Horner believes the young driver can continue to grow as he transitions into single-seater racing.
“We’re very pleased to have signed Michael for the 2026 GB4 Championship season. He’s shown a lot of potential in karting, and we’re looking forward to working with him and further extracting his ability as he steps up to cars.”
Ultimately, Koh enters the 2026 GB4 Championship focused on learning and steady improvement. While challenges lie ahead, particularly with unfamiliar circuits, his early testing form offers encouragement.
As a result, the season presents an opportunity not only for personal growth but also for making history as Singapore’s first representative in the series.
