The 2026 Euroformula Open season will reach one of its key moments next weekend as the championship makes its first visit to Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli.

After rounds at Portimão and Spa-Francorchamps, the series now heads to a new venue that could reshape the competitive order. Misano joins the Euroformula Open calendar as the championship’s 22nd venue since 2009 and its fourth Italian circuit after Monza, Imola and Mugello.

The 4.064-kilometre circuit, built in 1972 near the Adriatic coast, carries a strong motorbike heritage. However, its technical layout should also provide a demanding test for young single-seater drivers as they adapt to unfamiliar conditions.

Misano adds fresh challenge to 2026 campaign

A new circuit always brings an extra layer of intrigue, and Misano should offer teams and drivers a particularly interesting challenge. Unlike established venues on the calendar, the Italian track gives competitors less historical data to rely on.

Moreover, its coastal location could introduce additional variables. Wind and sand often influence circuits near the seaside, and those factors may affect grip levels across the weekend. Therefore, teams will need to react quickly as the track evolves.

The championship has already developed a clear pattern across the opening six races at Portimão and Spa-Francorchamps. Nevertheless, Misano’s arrival could test that early hierarchy and offer rivals a chance to close the gap.

Yeh arrives as championship benchmark

Rui-heng “Enzo” Yeh enters the Misano weekend as the clear driver to beat. The Team Motopark racer has controlled the opening phase of the season with impressive maturity and consistency.

The Taiwanese driver has claimed five wins and two pole positions from the first six races. As a result, he holds a commanding 49-point lead at the top of the standings.

Yeh has not only shown outright speed but also strong race management. That combination has allowed him to build a substantial early advantage, while his rivals continue to search for ways to disrupt his momentum.

De la Torre and Famularo lead the chase

Diego de la Torre remains Yeh’s closest challenger in the standings. The Team Motopark driver has already claimed four podium finishes this season, and his steady progress has kept him firmly in contention.

However, the Mexican now needs to convert consistency into victory. A maiden Euroformula Open win would not only reward his form but also reduce Yeh’s growing advantage at the front.

Meanwhile, Alessandro Famularo carries BVM Racing’s strongest title hopes into the team’s home event. The Venezuelan remains the only driver other than Yeh to win a race this season, and that success gives him valuable momentum as the field heads to Italy.

Stack and Herrera continue upward trajectory

Behind the leading trio, Everett Stack has started to find rhythm in his second Euroformula Open campaign. The American, who also races with Team Motopark, currently sits fourth in the standings and continues to build confidence as the season progresses.

Javier Herrera follows in fifth for BVM Racing. The 16-year-old Mexican, the youngest driver on the grid, has developed quickly and scored his first podium at Spa-Francorchamps.

Additionally, Herrera leads the Rookies’ Trophy after taking two rookie wins so far this season. His progress has added another important storyline to BVM Racing’s campaign as the team prepares for its home round.

Rookies’ Trophy battle gathers momentum

The Rookies’ Trophy has already produced an engaging contest within the wider championship. Herrera leads the way, but Team Motopark drivers Javier Castillo and Wiktor Dobrzański remain firmly in the fight.

Castillo has claimed one rookie win so far, while Dobrzański has taken two. Consequently, the Misano weekend could prove important in shaping the early direction of the rookie standings.

Beyond that trio, Aaron Ferrazzano also continues to make progress with Neri Autosport. The Belgian currently sits fourth in the Rookies’ Trophy and will aim to continue the upward trend he has shown alongside the Italian team.

Motopark and BVM Racing bring depth to Misano

Team Motopark arrives at Misano with strength across its line-up. Alongside Yeh, de la Torre, Stack, Castillo and Dobrzański, the German squad also fields Mexican driver Jesse Carrasquedo and Czech racer Jan Koller.

Both Carrasquedo and Koller have continued to raise their level during the early stages of the campaign. Therefore, Motopark should remain a major force as the championship adapts to a new circuit.

BVM Racing, meanwhile, will treat Misano as a true home event. The team operates from nearby Ravenna and brings a strong group of drivers to the Italian round. Famularo and Herrera will lead its charge, while Indian racer Divy Nandan returns after emerging as one of the surprises of the Algarve opener.

The team also welcomes Ricardo Miranda Baptista to its line-up. Nicknamed “Cadi”, the 18-year-old Brazilian already has previous Euroformula Open experience after making a one-off appearance at the Red Bull Ring last year.

New venue could shift the balance

Ultimately, Misano arrives at a fascinating point in the 2026 Euroformula Open season. Yeh has built a dominant lead, but the series now faces a fresh circuit with limited data, changing track conditions and several drivers eager to make progress.

For Yeh, the weekend offers a chance to reinforce his position at the top. For de la Torre, Famularo, Stack and Herrera, it presents an opportunity to challenge the established order.

As the championship visits Misano for the first time, the Italian venue could add unpredictability to a title race that Yeh has controlled so far.
