Team BRM will welcome Alex Peroni back to its GT World Challenge (GTWC) Australia powered by AWS line-up for the rest of the 2026 season, beginning with this month’s visit to Queensland Raceway.
Peroni missed the opening two rounds through injury, but the Tasmanian has now received clearance to return behind the wheel of the #268 Team BRM Audi R8 LMS EVO II. His comeback reunites him with Mark Rosser, his regular teammate across the past two seasons.
The pair have built a formidable partnership since linking up in 2024. Together, they have claimed four wins, including two victories at Queensland Raceway across the past two years. Consequently, Ipswich provides a fitting venue for Peroni’s return as Team BRM looks to build on its strong start to the campaign.
Peroni eager to resume strong Queensland form at next 2026 GTWC Australia outing with Team BRM
Peroni heads into the Queensland Raceway round with limited recent mileage. His only competitive outing this year came at the Bathurst 12 Hour, where he shared a car with Rosser, Steve Brooks and James Golding before a heavy crash forced the entry into retirement midway through the race.
However, the 26-year-old carries strong memories at Queensland Raceway. The circuit has delivered success for him and Rosser in previous seasons, and that record gives him confidence as he returns to GTWC Australia competition.
“It’s great to be back. There was definitely a period where things were a bit uncertain with my recovery, so to be recovering well and returning for Queensland is really exciting. We’ve had some strong results at Queensland Raceway over the past couple of years, so I’m looking forward to getting back in the car with Mark and the BRM team again.
“The team has started the season really strongly and BRM has continued to grow, so it’ll be great to come back into a really competitive environment. Having more data and experience around the team this year is only going to help us continue developing the car and improving ourselves as drivers. Mark has been performing consistently all season and Tom did a fantastic job stepping in earlier this year, so hopefully we can continue that momentum this weekend.
“Queensland was probably our strongest circuit last year, so I’m feeling confident heading back there, even though I haven’t been in the car since Bathurst. I’m sure it won’t take too long to get back up to speed. Qualifying is always critical in this category because overtaking can be so difficult, so I know I’ll need to be on the pace straight away. But overall, I’m feeling confident heading into the weekend.”
Rosser welcomes back familiar teammate
Peroni replaces Thomas Randle, who delivered impressive substitute performances across the opening two rounds. Randle and Rosser scored three podiums from four races, including a double podium at The Bend last month. Those results have placed Rosser firmly in the championship fight. He currently sits fourth in the overall standings, just 10 points behind the leading entries of Broc Feeney and Brad Schumacher.
Even so, Rosser now turns his focus to rebuilding rhythm with Peroni in the 2026 GTWC Australia. The duo has already shown race-winning pace together, and their previous Queensland Raceway success gives Team BRM a strong platform for the next phase of the season.
“I’m really looking forward to having Alex back in the car this weekend,” Rosser said. “Tom did a fantastic job stepping in earlier this season and it was great working with him, but Alex and I have built some really good momentum together over the past couple of years and we’re looking to continue that and fight for more podiums across the rest of the season.
“Queensland Raceway has been a strong track for us. We’ve managed to take race wins there over the last two years, so it’s a good place for Alex to make his return. With no test day beforehand and Alex not having driven since Bathurst, Queensland is probably one of the better circuits to come back at. It’s a little less physically demanding and a bit more straightforward compared to some of the other tracks we race at, so it should help us get back up to speed quickly despite the limited preparation.”
Team BRM aims to build on early 2026 GTWC Australia season momentum with Rosser and Peroni
Team BRM enters Queensland Raceway with momentum after a strong start to the campaign. Rosser and Randle kept the #268 Audi R8 LMS EVO II near the front across the opening rounds, while Rosser’s championship position keeps the team firmly in contention.
Now, Peroni’s return restores the partnership that has delivered consistent success since 2024. His previous single-seater pedigree, which includes a Formula Renault victory at Monaco in 2018 and three FIA Formula 3 podiums, adds further depth to Team BRM’s programme.
Moreover, Peroni has continued to develop his GT experience in recent seasons. After appearances in GT World Challenge Europe Endurance and the Intercontinental GT Challenge in 2023, he returned to Australia in 2024 and quickly found form alongside Rosser.
Queensland Raceway provides ideal comeback venue
Although Peroni faces a demanding return with no test day before the event, Queensland Raceway offers familiar ground. The circuit has suited the Peroni-Rosser partnership in recent seasons, and their two previous wins there underline their potential.
Qualifying will likely play a decisive role, as track position often proves crucial in GTWC Australia. Therefore, Peroni must settle quickly, while Rosser will aim to continue the consistency that has carried him into the early championship fight.
Ultimately, Team BRM heads to Ipswich with a proven pairing, strong recent form, and a clear opportunity to chase another standout result. The 2026 GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS season continues at Queensland Raceway from 12-14 June.
