Rodin Motorsport delivered a breakthrough performance in Montreal by securing the team’s first 1-2 finish of the 2026 FIA F2 season. Rookie driver Martinius Stenshorne claimed his maiden victory in the Championship, while teammate Alex Dunne fought from sixth on the grid to complete a superb result in second place.
The achievement marked a major turnaround for the team after a difficult opening phase of the campaign. Rodin had suffered two double DNFs in the first two rounds, yet the squad responded impressively in Canada with a huge points haul.
As a result, the team climbed into the top three of the Teams’ Standings and now sits only three points behind Campos Racing in second place.
Huntingford praises Rodin Motorsport’s response in Montreal after difficult 2026 Miami F2 Round
Speaking to Formula 2, Sporting Director Benn Huntingford expressed his satisfaction after the race and highlighted the significance of the result following the team’s early setbacks.
“Really pleased with that one after the last couple of rounds where not everything went our way or how we wanted it too,” he said. “We’ve actually been unfortunate to have two double DNFs in the first two rounds, so to turn that round into a double podium is really good.”
The Montreal Feature Race proved challenging for many drivers, with incidents and setbacks affecting several rivals throughout the afternoon. However, both Rodin drivers avoided trouble and managed the race intelligently.

Stenshorne delivers maiden victory
Huntingford reserved special praise for Martinius Stenshorne after the rookie produced one of his strongest performances of the season. The Norwegian driver showed pace throughout the weekend and converted it into a memorable maiden F2 victory.
“First of all, Martinius, he’s done a great job all weekend. He was fast in Qualifying and in the Sprint Race. Coming from where he did, he had to work really hard for his podium there.”
The Rodin Sporting Director also highlighted how strategy and timing helped the team maximise the result during a crucial Safety Car period.
“He’s had good pace all weekend and then the race just panned out well. It was fortunate with the Safety Car timing, we managed to get through the pit stops, get them both in and out in good time. He made some good overtakes for the win.”
Stenshorne’s calm approach and strong overtaking moves ultimately allowed him to control the race and secure the biggest result of his F 2 career so far.
Dunne fights through the field
Alex Dunne also impressed with a determined recovery drive from sixth on the grid to second place. Although the Safety Car pit sequence created complications for the team, Dunne still managed to fight his way back into podium contention.
Huntingford explained the challenge of servicing both cars during the same pit window.
“For Alex, it’s always difficult when you’ve got to stop both drivers and when the Safety Car opportunity comes, there’s not much you can do other than stack them up in the pits. Which inevitably takes a little bit longer for one of the drivers.”
Despite losing time in the process, Dunne remained in contention and recovered strongly during the closing stages.
“But it was still better than stopping under the green flag. In the end, Alex was still in a reasonable position and was able to make his way forward as well.”
The Irish driver’s performance reinforced his growing reputation as one of the leading contenders in the Formula 2 field.
Confidence at Rodin Motorsport builds ahead of 2026 European F2 rounds
The Montreal weekend also confirmed that Rodin Motorsport possesses genuine pace across different race formats. The team had already shown strong qualifying speed earlier in the season, but Canada finally delivered the complete result they had been chasing.
Huntingford believes the combination of Dunne’s experience and Stenshorne’s rapid adaptation gives the team strong momentum heading into the European rounds.
“It’s good. Alex is in his second year, so he’s quite an experienced driver now. And Martinius has come in and got up to speed really quickly.”
“The Qualifying pace has been brilliant from the start of the season. The calendar has been a bit disrupted up until now. So, it’ll be nice to get back onto the European circuits and see if we can win some more there.”
Following their standout performance in Montreal, Rodin Motorsport now heads back to Europe full of confidence and firmly in the fight near the top of the FIA Formula 2 standings.
