The 2026 F22 Championship took another major swing after a chaotic Canadian GP Feature Race, as Gabriele Minì extended his lead at the top of the Drivers’ Championship while MP Motorsport moved ahead in the Teams’ standings.
Martinius Stenshorne claimed his first F2 victory in Montréal, leading home teammate Alex Dunne for a Rodin Motorsport one-two. However, with Minì completing the podium in third, the MP Motorsport driver made the biggest championship gain of the weekend.
After moving into the lead of the standings in Saturday’s Sprint Race, Minì now sits on 57 points. Rafael Câmara remains second on 36 points, while Nikola Tsolov and Stenshorne are tied on 35. Meanwhile, Noel León and Laurens van Hoepen are level on 33 points after difficult Feature Race results.
Minì pulls clear after F2 Feature Race podium at 2026 Canadian GP
Minì entered the Canadian GP Feature Race as the new championship leader after finishing second in the Sprint Race. Although he started ninth, the Italian stayed out of trouble in a race defined by Safety Cars, penalties, crashes and changing conditions.
His third-place finish proved crucial. With Câmara finishing outside the points after a penalty-hit race and Tsolov dropping to 12th after a post-race penalty, Minì was able to build a significant gap at the top of the standings.
The MP Motorsport driver now leads the Drivers’ Championship by 21 points over Câmara. It marks a major shift in momentum after a Montréal weekend where several of his closest rivals failed to score heavily.
Câmara remains second on 36 points, but his advantage over the chasing pack has almost disappeared. Tsolov stays third on 35 points, level with Stenshorne, after a costly race that saw him lose ground despite running strongly at different stages.
Stenshorne and Dunne surge after Rodin one-two
Rodin Motorsport was the biggest winner from the Canadian GP Feature Race. Stenshorne’s first Formula 2 victory moves him from 13th to fourth in the Drivers’ Championship on 35 points, putting him level with Tsolov and just one point behind Câmara.
Dunne also made a major gain. After finishing second behind his teammate, the Irish driver rises to seventh in the standings on 30 points. His result brings him firmly into the early championship conversation after a strong recovery across the Montréal weekend.
The Rodin one-two also transformed the Teams’ Championship picture. After sitting eighth following the Sprint Race, Rodin Motorsport now climbs to third on 65 points, just four points behind championship leader MP Motorsport.
It was one of the most significant team gains of the season so far, and it keeps Rodin within striking distance of both MP Motorsport and Campos Racing.
León and van Hoepen lose ground after difficult Feature Race
After winning Saturday’s Sprint Race, León entered the Feature Race fourth in the Drivers’ Championship and just 10 points behind Minì. However, a five-second penalty for speeding in the pit lane limited his final result, with the Campos Racing driver classified 10th.
León still adds one point to his total, moving to 33 points. However, he drops to fifth in the standings after Stenshorne’s victory.
Van Hoepen also endured a difficult Sunday. After claiming his first F2 pole position, the Trident driver led early before crashing at the Wall of Champions on Lap 5. His retirement leaves him sixth in the standings, level with León on 33 points.
The result was costly for Trident as well. While van Hoepen remains firmly in the championship fight, the team now sits sixth in the Teams’ standings on 33 points.
Câmara and Tsolov punished after costly Feature Race
Meanwhile, Câmara and Tsolov both had difficult Feature Races, allowing Minì to pull clear in the championship.
Câmara had been running in the lead group but spun after attempting a move on Dino Beganovic. He was handed a five-second penalty for causing the collision and eventually finished 14th, leaving him without points. As a result, he remains on 36 points.
Tsolov also lost ground. The Bulgarian had taken the lead at the start before van Hoepen reclaimed first place, and later fought back after being spun around by Kush Maini. However, a post-race 10-second penalty for leaving the track and gaining an advantage while defending against Oliver Goethe dropped him from fourth to 12th.
That penalty proved extremely costly. Instead of moving back into stronger championship contention, Tsolov remains on 35 points and now shares third place with Stenshorne.

F2 Feature Race at the 2026 Canadian GP reshapes both championships
The Canadian GP Feature Race proved to be one of the most important races of the 2026 F2 season so far. Stenshorne’s victory and Dunne’s second place brought Rodin Motorsport firmly into the championship battle, while Minì’s podium allowed him to establish a clear lead in the Drivers’ standings.
Behind him, the fight remains extremely close. Câmara, Tsolov, Stenshorne, León, van Hoepen and Dunne are all separated by just six points from second to seventh.
In the Teams’ Championship, MP Motorsport now leads, but Campos Racing and Rodin Motorsport are both close enough to respond quickly. After a chaotic Montréal weekend filled with penalties, retirements and Safety Cars, both title fights remain wide open heading into the next round.
