In a media session attended by Pit Debrief, Rodin Motorsport’s F3 Team Manager, Sam Waple spoke about what is working within their team this season. He largely credits the ability of his drivers to their current run of success. Waple has the outlook that Rodin Motorsport’s weekends are constantly evolving in a positive manner.

Aspects of team performance

In the 2024 F3 season, Rodin Motorsport finished the team’s championship in a disappointing 8th, and 2023 dead last. As it currently stands, Rodin sits in 5th, a mere 86 points behind Trident who lead.

Waple credits the ability of his drivers to improve their performance from Free Practice to the Feature Race. Despite the outcome of their Free Practice sessions, they continue to improve with each session that follows.

He goes on to praise how his drivers work together, and are happy to do so. Waple comments on their ability to push each other further, and build off of each others performances. Each weekend tends to build upon the last, Waple not believing the team slips back.

“In particular, the way the course of our weekends are running, to be honest with you, when we start from FP and how we build on what we have performance-wise from there through the weekend, I think that’s been the best we’ve had this year.

“And I think that comes from the drivers wanting to work together. Much like Brad [Joyce] said, we’ve got a bunch of drivers that really work well together.

“So they push each other really well. And we seem to build on our weekends rather than slip back. So I’d say that’s the thing I’d say we’re most proud of this year.”

Monaco leads as the team’s most successful weekend

It is undeniable that Rodin Motorsport’s success across a weekend, peaked within the Monaco Grand Prix weekend. Across the team’s three drivers, they accumulated a total of 35 points for the weekend. Waple praised his team’s ability to improve throughout a weekend, Monaco a perfect example of this.

A poor Free Practice in the principality for two of his drivers, was improved by qualifying with all three drivers qualifying in the top 13, Sharp just missing Sprint pole. The Sprint Race saw further improvement, with his drivers finishing P9, P10, and P11. Rodin’s weekend peaked during the Feature Race, in which their drivers finished P2, P4, and P9.
