Nolan Siegel is heading into the IndyCar Arlington GP with a new special livery and hopes for “a strong weekend” after an underwhelming start to the season.
Nolan Siegel revealed a special livery for the Arlington GP with SmartStop at the Arrow McLaren Fan Fest, attended by Pit Debrief. With a special livery, Siegel hopes to have a strong weekend before heading into an off-week.
When asked by Pit Debrief about his goals for the Arlington GP, Siegel answered, “The goal is just to have another strong weekend. We have a very new group on the No. 6 car and everyone’s still learning how to work with each other and work with each other effectively. I think it’s been good so far, but just looking forward to another weekend where we get to work with our new group and get everyone settled.“
“And I think it’s important to have a strong weekend here to then go into a short break with a little bit of momentum, good things to look at, good things to focus on. There will be areas to improve and just looking to kind of collect some data that we can use in this break before we get to Barber.”
Siegel hoping to find pace for IndyCar’s Arlington GP
During the last race in Phoenix, Siegel had qualified well but lost that momentum once the race began. Siegel qualified P9 in Phoenix but finished P20. When Pit Debrief asked if his race pace was his key focus for the Arlington GP, Siegel answered, “I think that’s exactly it.“
Siegel continued, “The pace has been there, and ultimately, it’s kind of executing in the race. So I think the goal is always to qualify well and start up front. That’s always the same. And honestly, it hasn’t really been a struggle for us. We’ve done that plenty of times, but then converting that into a race result is really difficult.“
The Arrow McLaren driver identified what he and the team can fix after the last street race in St. Pete. Siegel noted that his strategy and driving style need improvement for the Arlington GP, but he hopes to end IndyCar’s opening triple header before Barber.
“That’s why we’re all here. That’s why it’s hard. But I think we have some things that we’ve identified from St. Pete that we can improve on and improve on quite easily, actually. So I’m going to try and fix those things in St. Pete. I think the pace on reds versus the black tyres was an issue. I know how to fix it. Strategy-wise, I think we have some things to improve on. Driving wise, I have some things to improve on. So it’s exciting to kind of be able to implement all of that this weekend.”
