It was yet another tough weekend for Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll at the 2026 F1 British GP. The Canadian driver took the chequered flag last in P19, two spots ahead from where he qualified in P21.

On top of his usual struggles with his AMR26, Stroll’s 2026 F1 British GP weekend was also characterised by penalties. He received a total of four penalties throughout the weekend.

Following the 2026 F1 British GP, Stroll reflected that his Aston Martin was “aerodynamically very broken”. This resulted in him suffering from severe understeer and oversteer and made his AMR26 very unpredictable to drive.

Nonetheless, the 27-year-old shared that he will remain patient and hopes the team’s massive upgrade package coming in Hungary will give them the much-needed boost in performance.

Stroll remains optimistic that upcoming upgrades will boost AMR26’s performance

Despite finishing last, the Canadian driver completed the full race distance, which brings Aston Martin valuable data to study.

When asked if the team had enough data, Stroll replied: “Yeah, I think we have enough information.”

The three-time podium finisher also admitted that his AMR26 lacked performance overall, and it was a problem that could not be fixed with set-up tweaks alone.

Stroll added that he will remain patient and endure another frustrating race weekend until the 2026 F1 Hungarian GP, where the team plans to debut their fmassive upgrade package.

“You know, we just have to be patient for the upgrades when they come in a couple of races’ time.”

Stroll on his three penalties during the 2026 F1 British GP

During the 2026 F1 British GP, Lance Stroll incurred three penalties in just nine laps. Each five-second penalty was awarded for exceeding track limits, and a total of 15 seconds was added to his race time.

The Canadian driver was issued three separate infractions on laps 33, 35, and 42, respectively. While he is unsure if the penalties were fair, Stroll admitted that due to the severe understeer of his AMR26, he was aware it was difficult to keep his Aston Martin within track limits.

“I don’t know. Maybe I guess we had a lot of understeer in the race, and the car is very broken, so it’s even hard to stay within the track limits. The car is doing a lot of different behaviour every lap, every corner. It’s hard to stay within the track limits. It’s just a challenging race, as the whole year has been so far.

No, it’s just aerodynamically very broken, so we have just a lot of issues out there.

Regardless of his struggles with his AMR26, at the 2026 F1 British GP, Lance Stroll shared that he continued to give it his all on track, maximising whatever performance he could get out of his car.

“Yeah, for sure. I’m always out there racing and pushing, so I’m always trying to give it everything I can.”
