Turner Motorsport secured another fourth-place finish in Round 4 of 2026 GT World Challenge (GTWC) America after overcoming a costly mechanical problem at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta.

Justin Rothberg started the No. 29 BMW M4 GT3 EVO from third on the grid and remained in contention during a race shaped by changing conditions. However, a broken fuel line during Robby Foley’s stint sent the car back to the paddock and ended the team’s hopes of challenging for a stronger result.

Nevertheless, the Turner Motorsport crew repaired the BMW and returned it to the circuit, allowing Foley and Rothberg to complete the race and collect fourth-place points before the championship’s summer break.

Foley takes confidence from Turner Motorsport’s pace

Turner Motorsport showed strong speed throughout the Road Atlanta weekend, while Foley underlined the car’s potential during Qualifying.

The team started the three-hour race from third after combining Rothberg and Foley’s Qualifying efforts. Moreover, Foley believed the BMW ranked among the fastest cars in the field before the mechanical issue interrupted its challenge.

“It was an unfortunate end to a super strong weekend. We had a really fast LATICRETE BMW, and the Turner guys and girls did a great job giving us a hot rod. We showed that in qualifying, and we were probably the quickest car out there all weekend, which was nice. Unfortunately, we had a fuel system issue, which put us a bunch of laps down. But on a positive note, we have a fast car, so we’ll take that to Road America.”

Although the failure cost Turner Motorsport several laps, Foley focused on the team’s underlying performance. Therefore, the squad will carry confidence into the next round despite missing the opportunity to convert its pace into a podium.

Rothberg manages changing Road Atlanta conditions

Rothberg took the start in difficult conditions after rain affected the circuit before the race. Initially, the Turner Motorsport driver had to manage the BMW on wet-weather tyres. However, the track began to dry, and the team made an early pit stop to switch to slicks.

Rothberg then worked his way through lapped traffic while steadily reducing the gap to the cars ahead. His progress kept the No. 29 BMW involved in the fight before the scheduled driver change.

At the halfway point, Rothberg handed the car to Foley. By then, Turner Motorsport had positioned itself to continue its push towards the front.

Broken fuel line ends the podium challenge

Foley began his stint with the team still targeting a competitive finish. However, a broken fuel line struck approximately 30 minutes after he took control of the BMW. The problem forced Foley to return the car to the paddock, where the Turner Motorsport crew immediately began repairs.

The unscheduled stop dropped the No. 29 entry several laps behind the leaders and removed it from podium contention. Even so, the team refused to retire the car.

Instead, the mechanics completed the repair and sent Foley back onto the circuit. As a result, Turner Motorsport reached the finish and secured fourth place in class.

Turner praises the team’s effort in demanding conditions

High heat and humidity created another challenge for the Turner Motorsport crew throughout the weekend. Despite those conditions, the team maintained a strong level of performance and responded quickly when the fuel-line failure occurred.

Team owner Will Turner praised the squad’s preparation and determination, although he acknowledged that a minor component had prevented a stronger result.

“We had a great car this weekend. The team put in so much effort into everything and fought the heat and the humidity. Unfortunately, a small part hurt our changes to do well, but we’ll regroup and be back in action at Road America.”

The repair allowed the team to salvage valuable points from a race that could easily have ended in retirement. Furthermore, the result extended Foley and Rothberg’s run of fourth-place finishes.

Turner Motorsport turns its attention to Road America

GT World Challenge America will now enter its summer break before returning at Road America from 28–30 August. The Elkhart Lake circuit will provide Turner Motorsport with another opportunity to convert its proven speed into a stronger result.

Foley and Rothberg leave Road Atlanta encouraged by the BMW’s pace, even though the fuel-system problem limited their final position. Meanwhile, the crew will use the break to regroup and prepare for the next stage of the season.

After demonstrating front-running potential in Georgia, Turner Motorsport will arrive at Road America determined to turn that performance into a podium challenge.
