During a media session attended by Pit Debrief, Jake Dennis offered insight into his ongoing journey with Andretti Formula E. The Briton spoke about the value of continuity, his role within the team, and the motivation behind his latest contract extension. With the championship entering a new phase, his reflections highlighted both stability and ambition as key themes shaping the next chapter of his Formula E career.
Stability at the core of Dennis’ role at Andretti in Formula E
Dennis reflected on continuity as a cornerstone of his journey with Andretti Formula E. Despite signing a new deal, his position within the team had remained largely unchanged. He continued to take on a leading role, guiding development and contributing to the team’s overall direction. His long-standing relationship with the outfit allowed him to operate with clarity and confidence, reinforcing stability rather than redefining his responsibilities.
“Honestly, I think my role is very similar. I have a very, you know, well-thought-out role with Andretti. I’ve been with these guys for five years now, and I really try to lead the team as much as I possibly can and give the direction of where I want the team to go and the improvements that need to be had.”
Looking ahead to a new era
Attention also turned towards the arrival of the Gen4 regulations, which played a decisive role in his long-term commitment. Excitement around the new machinery blended with a preference for consistency, as he aimed to build on past success with familiar faces. The competitive landscape had evolved significantly, making victories harder to secure than in previous years. Even so, the growth of the championship and its expanding calendar created a strong sense of optimism for what lay ahead.
“But I think just generally the whole reason behind the new signing is obviously Gen 4 car is coming. It’s a very exciting project. I wanted the consistency behind staying with Andretti and performing at a level where we can try and win the championship again, which we’ve done once before.”
“I think it’s definitely much harder to do now than what it was three years ago, six years ago, ten years ago. The level, like I mentioned before, is just higher and higher. I’m just generally really excited to go into another generation of car, a multi-year deal with Andretti.”
“I think it’s just a great time to be a racing driver in Formula E, really. The championship’s expanding greatly. We’re wanting to introduce more races in the future, different locations. It’s in a really healthy spot, so I’m very excited for all.”
A stable foundation behind the scenes
Continuity had played a central role in Dennis’ steady progression with Andretti Formula E. Over several seasons, he built a stable working environment on his side of the garage, particularly through a long-standing relationship with his race engineer. While elements around him had shifted, that core structure allowed him to refine performance year after year. Stability became a foundation rather than a limitation, helping him extract more from both himself and the team.
“Yeah, I think it’s super important. As I’ve said, I’ve been with these guys for five years now. Obviously, I’ll be continuing with them for many more years. It’s not been consistent every year in terms of personnel and teams, teammates and stuff. Nevertheless, I think my side of the garage has been really well-structured. I’m with the same engineer for four years now.”
Dennis backs Andretti’s evolution in Formula E
Alongside that stability, Andretti continued to evolve in key areas. New additions strengthened the line-up, while internal development focused heavily on preparing for the next generation of machinery. Efforts to refine the project remained relentless, with a clear aim to maximise competitiveness from the outset. For Dennis, this balance between continuity and targeted change proved ideal, reinforcing his commitment to the team’s long-term vision.
“Bringing Felipe [Drugovich] in this year has been great. Nevertheless, I think we’re still pushing pretty hard. We’re still pushing very hard. We’re signing new people. We’re trying to get the Gen 4 project to hit the ground running as quickly as we possibly can. I think it’s a big factor.”
“Some people like a big change, and that excites them. But for me, staying with Andretti for the future was the most appealing aspect to me. The consistency and what we have together moving forward should be very exciting.”
