The Euroformula Open Championship launches its 2026 season at the Autódromo do Algarve, where drivers face a demanding 4.653-kilometre layout overlooking the Atlantic. As a result, teams enter a track that immediately tests both precision and endurance.

This season marks the 26th running of the GT Sport single-seater formula, the 13th under the Euroformula Open name, and the second year using the current technical package. The combination of the Dallara 324 chassis, Tom’s engine, and Pirelli tyres continues to deliver a competitive platform with a three-race weekend format across eight rounds on FIA-graded circuits.

A proven formula with growing ambition

Despite its stability, the series continues to evolve. Organisers emphasise quality racing and professional broadcasting while working to expand grid numbers.

GT Sport CEO Jesús Pareja explained the direction of the championship: “Thanks to the new technical package formed by the Dallara 324 and the Tom’s engine, without forgetting the Pirelli tyres, we have certainly achieved the racing product we wanted. We still haven’t reached the grid numbers we want, but we have been working hard to lay the ground for an increase, which is going to be visible from the next rounds, as we know the number of cars we have sold. The market of single-seater formulae is in constant evolution, and we are confident that quantity will soon be joining quality.”

BVM Racing and Team Motopark lead the field

Last season ended with a tightly fought title battle. BVM Racing secured the Drivers’ Championship, while Team Motopark claimed the Teams’ crown. Consequently, both outfits enter 2026 as the main protagonists once again.

BVM Racing arrives in Portugal with three confirmed entries and a potential fourth. Their line-up reflects a strong international mix, including rising talent from Mexico, Venezuela, and India. Also among them is Divy Nandan, who brings experience from Formula 4 and GB3 and represents one of the team’s key prospects for the season.

Meanwhile, Team Motopark fields a seven-car entry combining returning drivers and rookies developed through its academy system. The squad expects to challenge immediately at the front, continuing its strong momentum from the previous season.

International talent shapes the grid

The 2026 grid features a strong South American presence alongside emerging European and Asian drivers. Young competitors from Mexico, Poland, Czechia, Taiwan, and Belgium join established names returning to the series.

Motopark’s roster includes experienced contenders such as Everett Stack and Diego de la Torre, alongside several rookies stepping up from Formula 4 and regional series. This blend of experience and youth reinforces the championship’s role as a key development platform.

Additionally, Neri Autosport joins the field as a new entrant, expanding the competitive landscape further.

A competitive 2026 Euroformula Open season ahead

With two leading teams once again set for a direct confrontation, the 2026 season promises intense competition from the opening round. The combination of established rivalries, new entrants, and rising international talent sets the stage for a closely contested championship.

As the lights go out at Portimão, Euroformula Open begins another year defined by development, ambition, and high-level junior single-seater racing.
