After a standout 2025 season in the FIA Formula 3 Championship, Rafael Câmara firmly established himself as one of the brightest young talents in the junior formula ladder. Now competing in the FIA Formula 2 Championship with Invicta Racing and already delivering strong results, it is worth looking back at Câmara’s 2025 F3 title, and where he currently sits in the FIA Formula 2 Championship.
Racing through the junior ranks
After finding success in karting and collecting multiple titles, Câmara made the move to single-seaters in 2022. The Brazilian competed across the Formula 4 UAE Championship, Italian F4 Championship and ADAC Formula 4 Championship, finishing runner-up in the UAE series and third in both the Italian and ADAC championships.
He stepped up again in 2023, joining both the Formula Regional Middle East Championship (FRMEC) and the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine (FRECA). Câmara finished third overall in the Middle East series and fifth in FRECA, before returning the following year with even stronger form.
His 2024 campaign proved to be a breakthrough season. Câmara secured third overall in FRMEC before dominating FRECA, where he claimed the title with one round remaining. Across the season, he collected eight victories, multiple podium finishes and five pole positions, cementing himself as one of the leading prospects in junior motorsport.
His FIA F3 season
Câmara carried that momentum into the 2025 FIA Formula 3 season with TRIDENT, where he quickly emerged as the benchmark driver on the grid. In a championship defined by unpredictability, technical precision and ruthless competition, the Ferrari Driver Academy member produced one of the most composed rookie campaigns in modern F3 history.
He made an immediate statement in Melbourne, securing pole position on debut before mastering difficult wet conditions to claim his maiden Feature Race victory. Another pole and victory followed in Bahrain, where he recovered from early setbacks with patience and precision to further extend his championship lead.
At Imola, Câmara became the first rookie in modern F3 history to begin a season with three consecutive pole positions. While the Sprint Race proved difficult after getting caught in midfield battles, he bounced back in the Feature Race with a composed podium finish.

Mid season set backs
Monaco brought one of the few setbacks of his season. After qualifying lower than expected and carrying a grid penalty, his Feature Race ended heartbreakingly with a wheel failure while running inside the points. Despite the disappointment, Câmara responded immediately in Barcelona.
There, he returned to dominant form. After maximising points in the Sprint Race, he converted pole position into another commanding Feature Race victory, expertly managing Safety Car restarts and controlling the race from the front.
As the season progressed, Câmara shifted focus from outright domination to championship management. Strong points finishes in Spielberg and Silverstone allowed him to protect his advantage despite difficult conditions and inconsistent weekends. At Spa-Francorchamps, he recovered from outside the top ten in the Sprint Race to finish fifth, while the rain-affected Feature Race was abandoned before points could be awarded.
The defining moment of his F3 campaign
Round 9 at the Hungaroring ultimately became the defining moment of his campaign. Câmara secured another pole position before delivering a flawless lights-to-flag victory in wet conditions, carefully managing tyres and multiple Safety Car restarts to clinch the 2025 FIA Formula 3 Championship with one round remaining.
With the title already secured, the Monza finale became a chance to close out the season cleanly. Câmara qualified fourth and added more points across both races, underlining the maturity and consistency that had defined his year from the very beginning.
Across the season, Câmara secured four Feature Race victories and a record-breaking five pole positions. His combination of qualifying speed, racecraft and composure under pressure earned him both the FIA Rookie of the Year Award and the Aramco Best Rookie Award, confirming his status as one of the standout talents in junior motorsport.

Where is Câmara now?
Following his 2025 F3 title-winning campaign with TRIDENT, Câmara stepped up to FIA Formula 2 in 2026 with Invicta Racing. He first sampled the car during post-season testing at the Yas Marina Circuit before beginning his rookie F2 campaign.
Backed by the Ferrari Driver Academy, Câmara has already shown promising pace in Formula 2 and quickly adapted to the step up in competition. So far in the 2026 FIA F2 season, Câmara has secured two podiums, a P2 in the Melbourne GP Feature Race, and P3 in the Miami GP Feature Race. His consistent performances have kept him firmly in the championship fight as he continues his rapid rise through the junior ranks.
The question now is not whether Câmara can compete in Formula 2, but how quickly he can establish himself as a genuine title contender and future Formula 1 prospect.
