The 2026 FIA Formula 2 Championship took another dramatic turn after the Miami GP Feature Race, as Gabriele Minì’s maiden F2 victory reshaped both title battles.

Nikola Tsolov still leads the Drivers’ Championship with 35 points. However, Rafael Câmara and Minì now sit just one point behind him on 34 points each. Therefore, Miami has transformed the early-season fight from a Tsolov-led charge into a tightly packed three-driver contest.

Meanwhile, Campos Racing remain on top of the Teams’ Championship with 55 points. Yet Invicta Racing and MP Motorsport both made major gains after a chaotic Feature Race at the Miami International Autodrome.

Minì’s breakthrough win changes the championship picture

Gabriele Minì entered the Miami Feature Race with nine points. However, he left Florida as a genuine title contender after claiming his first victory in F2. The MP Motorsport driver capitalised in the final stages of a safety car-heavy race. Dino Beganovic, Rafael Câmara and Minì all fought for victory late on, but Minì kept himself in position as mistakes unfolded ahead. When Beganovic cut across the chicane on the final lap, Minì seized the lead and held on for a landmark win.

As a result, Minì jumped to third in the Drivers’ Championship on 34 points. Crucially, he now sits level with Câmara and only one point behind Tsolov. His victory also pushed MP Motorsport to 46 points in the Teams’ Championship, moving them into third and firmly into contention.

Tsolov keeps 2026 F2 Drivers’ Championship lead despite Miami Feature Race setback

Although Tsolov won Saturday’s Sprint Race, his Feature Race unravelled almost immediately. At the start, Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak spun the Campos Racing driver, which left Tsolov stranded and triggered an early safety car.

Consequently, Tsolov failed to add to his total. Even so, his Sprint Race success kept him at the head of the championship on 35 points. That single-point advantage now carries major importance, especially after Câmara and Minì both closed in sharply.

Moreover, Tsolov’s position shows how quickly F2 momentum can shift. He arrived at the Feature Race with a clear advantage, yet one first-lap incident almost erased his cushion entirely.

Câmara recovers to second in the standings

Meanwhile, Rafael Câmara endured a difficult start from the front row, dropping down the order after struggling off the line. However, the Invicta Racing driver recovered strongly and fought back into the victory battle.

Câmara briefly looked set to win after jumping Kush Maini during the pit stops and leading the race in the closing stages. Nevertheless, he ran wide while battling Beganovic and Minì, which cost him the chance to control the finish.

Still, Câmara’s podium proved extremely valuable. He moved to 34 points and now sits second in the Drivers’ Championship. In addition, his result helped Invicta Racing rise to 50 points, only five behind Campos Racing.

Van Hoepen loses ground after strong Sprint Race

Laurens van Hoepen left the Sprint Race as Tsolov’s closest challenger. However, after the Feature Race, he has slipped to fourth in the Drivers’ Championship on 26 points. The Trident driver remains well placed in the early title fight, but Miami’s longer race allowed Câmara and Minì to leap ahead. Therefore, Van Hoepen now needs a strong response at the next round to regain lost ground.

Trident also lost momentum in the Teams’ Championship. The squad remains fifth on 26 points, but MP Motorsport, Hitech and ART Grand Prix all closed or moved ahead after Sunday’s race.

Beganovic and León make major gains as Maini finally opens his account

On the other hand, Dino Beganovic also emerged as one of the biggest movers from the Feature Race. His second-place finish lifted him to 21 points and sixth in the Drivers’ Championship. The Hitech driver fought aggressively for victory and almost converted that pace into a win. However, his late mistake through the chicane opened the door for Minì. Even so, Beganovic’s result boosted Hitech to 32 points in the Teams’ Championship.

Meanwhile, Noel León also enjoyed a strong Miami weekend. He now sits seventh in the Drivers’ Championship with 20 points, while his haul proved vital for Campos Racing. With Tsolov on 35 and León on 20, Campos now lead the Teams’ standings on 55 points.

Further down the order, Kush Maini started the Feature Race from pole and led early on. However, multiple safety cars, pit-stop timing and late-race battles prevented him from converting pole into victory. Even so, Maini finally scored his first points of the season. He now sits 11th in the Drivers’ Championship with 12 points. That result also helped DAMS Lucas Oil move to 22 points, placing the team seventh in the standings. For Maini, the result offers a platform after a difficult start to the campaign. However, given his pole position, he may still view Miami as a missed opportunity.

Campos stay ahead but the 2026 F2 Teams’ Championship battle tightens after Miami

Campos Racing continue to lead the Teams’ Championship with 55 points. However, Invicta Racing now sit just five points behind on 50, while MP Motorsport have surged to 46. That gap creates a three-team battle at the front. Campos still have the lead thanks to Tsolov and León, but Invicta’s Câmara-Dürksen pairing and MP Motorsport’s Minì-Goethe combination both look increasingly dangerous.

Further back, Hitech hold fourth with 32 points, ahead of Trident on 26 and ART Grand Prix on 25. DAMS Lucas Oil follow on 22, while Rodin Motorsport, PREMA Racing, Van Amersfoort Racing and AIX Racing complete the order.

Miami leaves F2 title fight wide open after chaotic Feature Race

After the Feature Race, the 2026 F2 Championship looks far tighter than it did after the Sprint. Tsolov still leads, but Câmara and Minì now sit within striking distance. Additionally, Miyata, Beganovic, León and Van Hoepen remain close enough to shape the next phase of the season.

Miami also underlined how unpredictable the championship can become in difficult conditions. Safety cars, wet-weather strategy, penalties and late-race pressure all influenced the final order. Minì handled that chaos best, while Tsolov survived the weekend with the narrowest championship lead possible.

Therefore, the next round now carries even greater weight. Tsolov remains the leader, but Miami has ensured he no longer controls the early title race alone.
