GB4 Championship officials have issued a major Championship Stewards Decision following the Silverstone race weekend, with Elite Motorsport losing all teams’ championship points from the opening event.
The decision follows an investigation into a breach of Appendix 6 of the GB4 Sporting and Technical Regulations. Officials found that Elite Motorsport had breached the championship’s testing ban, which prevents private testing at the circuit due to host the next event during the two weeks before that meeting.
As a result, the team has been disqualified from the Silverstone GB4 Event, held on 25/26 April. Elite Motorsport has also received a £1,200 fine and has forfeited every Teams’ Championship point scored during the weekend.
Testing breach brings heavy sanction
Appendix 6 of the regulations sets out a clear restriction on pre-event running. It states that private testing at the next championship venue is forbidden during the 14 days before the start of that event.
The rule applies to any team or driver entered for the relevant GB4 Championship event. However, official GB4 test days remain exempt from the ban.
Following its investigation, the championship stewards ruled that Elite Motorsport had breached this regulation in the build-up to Silverstone. Consequently, the team loses the benefit of its strong opening-round performance in the teams’ standings.
Suspended Teams’ Championship disqualification
In addition to the Silverstone disqualification and financial penalty, Elite Motorsport has also been disqualified from the 2026 GB4 Championship. However, that sanction has been suspended for the remainder of the calendar year.
Therefore, the team can continue in the championship, but any further breach may carry serious consequences. The suspended penalty places extra pressure on the squad to maintain full compliance across the rest of the season.
Drivers’ Standings remain unchanged
Although the decision has altered the Teams’ Championship standings, the drivers’ standings remain unchanged. That means Elite Motorsport drivers keep their individual results and points from Silverstone.
The ruling creates a significant early shift in the teams’ championship battle. Elite Motorsport had left Silverstone with a strong points haul, but the penalty now removes that advantage entirely.
