The 2026 Formula Regional Americas Championship (FRAC) continues this weekend as Racing America at Road America brings the series to one of North America’s most iconic road courses.

After a competitive season opener at NOLA Motorsports Park, the championship arrives in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, with early momentum, emerging storylines and a wide-open title battle. Moreover, FR Americas will share the weekend with Formula 4 United States Championship, Ligier Junior Formula Championship and Sportscar Vintage Racing Association, creating a packed three-day event for fans.

Road America to host Round 2 of 2026 FRAC

Road America provides a major test for the FRAC field. The 4.048-mile, 14-turn circuit runs clockwise and stands as the longest track on the 2026 schedule. With long straights, fast corners and heavy braking zones, the venue rewards commitment, precision and consistency across every lap.

Notably, the event also brings a family-friendly atmosphere to the historic Wisconsin facility. Kids 12 and under receive free admission, while open paddocks, fan walks, a car show and three full days of track activity give spectators plenty to follow away from the racing line.

Championship battle already takes shape

The opening round at NOLA suggested a fierce fight ahead. Three different drivers won across the three races, while three different teams reached the top step of the podium. As a result, the early championship picture already features depth and unpredictability.

Cooper Shipman leads the standings after finishing third, second and first at NOLA in the No. 10 Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F3. The reigning F4 U.S. champion holds a 13-point advantage over Evagoras Papasavvas, who drives the No. 71 Crosslink Motorsports Ligier JS F3 and competes as an FR Americas rookie. Meanwhile, Kekai Hauanio sits third after scoring two podium finishes during the opening weekend.

The stakes remain high throughout the season. The 2026 FR Americas champion will earn $100,000, while the vice champion will receive $20,000 and the third-place driver will collect $10,000.

Schuh returns home to Wisconsin

Aidan Schuh will bring local interest to the FRAC grid this weekend. The Janesville, Wisconsin native drives the No. 14 Homes For Our Troops / Crosslink Motorsports Ligier JS F3 and grew up around two hours from Road America.

Therefore, Schuh will arrive with a home-track advantage and strong support from family and friends. That backing could give him extra motivation as he targets a strong performance on familiar ground.

Hauanio targets first FR Americas victory

Kekai Hauanio enters Road America searching for his first FR Americas win, and history suggests he could become a major contender this weekend.

The Crosslink Motorsports driver has already enjoyed major success at the Elkhart Lake circuit. Over the last two seasons, he has claimed three victories at Road America, winning once in Ligier JFC in 2024 before adding two F4 U.S. victories at the venue in 2025.

Consequently, Hauanio arrives with confidence, track knowledge and proven race-winning form at one of the most demanding circuits on the calendar.

Papasavvas swaps graduation for racing

Evagoras Papasavvas also brings a notable storyline into Round 2. The Crosslink Motorsports driver will miss his high school graduation ceremony with Loveland High School’s Class of 2026 as he pursues race wins at Road America instead.

After starting the season second in the championship standings, Papasavvas will aim to convert his early momentum into another strong points haul during Sunday’s doubleheader.

Dass arrives with diploma in hand

Harbir Dass reaches Road America after celebrating a milestone away from the circuit. The No. 9 Kiwi Motorsport driver graduated from Georgia Institute of Technology last weekend with a BSMS degree in Mechanical Engineering.

However, Dass will quickly turn his focus back to racing as he continues his FR Americas campaign. He will also return to Georgia Tech this autumn to pursue a master’s degree.

Extra seat time could prove valuable

Barrett Wolfe and Aidan Schuh gained useful Road America experience before the FR Americas weekend. The pair recently joined FR Americas alum and Crosslink Motorsports driver coach Landan Matriano Lim for a World Racing League event at the circuit.

Driving a Ligier JS2R, the trio competed in eight-hour and seven-hour endurance races, sharing seat time across the two events. That preparation could help Wolfe and Schuh settle quickly once official FR Americas running begins.

Bobadilla brings winning form

Alejandro Bobadilla enters Road America with fresh success from another championship. Since the NOLA opener, the Mexico City native has scored two more victories in F4 NACAM Championship competition at Autódromo Hnos. Rodríguez.

Bobadilla currently leads the F4 NACAM standings while also pursuing the FR Americas title in the United States. Therefore, he arrives in Wisconsin with confidence and recent race-winning momentum.

2026 FRAC pathway gains attention

The wider Racing America ladder will also draw attention this weekend as several graduates focus on the Indianapolis 500. Six expected starters in the 110th Running of the Indianapolis 500 have links to the championships, including Kyle Kirkwood, David Malukas, Kyffin Simpson, Christian Rasmussen, Nolan Siegel and rookie Jacob Abel.

Meanwhile, 2025 FRAC champion Titus Sherlock continues to build his career in sports cars. Sherlock recently claimed his first IMSA win at COTA while remaining active in the FR Americas paddock as a coach for Schuh and Hauanio.

A key weekend at Road America

Ultimately, Road America offers the FRAC field an important early-season opportunity. With three races on the schedule, drivers can make major gains in the standings or lose ground before the championship reaches its next phase.

Shipman arrives as the points leader, Papasavvas carries momentum in second, and Hauanio returns to a circuit where he has already won. Meanwhile, Schuh, Wolfe, Dass, Bobadilla and the rest of the field will look to turn preparation into results.

Therefore, as Round 2 begins at Road America, the 2026 FRAC title fight enters one of its first major tests.
