Elite Motorsport driver Fred Green maintained his advantage in the George Russell Pole Position Cup standings after another strong Qualifying performance at Oulton Park.

Green secured his third pole position of the 2026 GB4 season during Saturday Qualifying after delivering a decisive late lap. His best effort of 1m34.350s arrived just 10 seconds before the chequered flag and edged him ahead of the competition by only 0.043 seconds.

The result extended Green’s pole tally to three for the season and allowed him to preserve a two-pole advantage at the top of the standings.

O’Grady claims maiden 2026 GB4 pole for Race 2 at Oulton Park; Green takes Race 1 pole

Although Green claimed pole for Race 1, KMR Sport driver Alex O’Grady still enjoyed a breakthrough moment during the session. O’Grady spent much of Qualifying at the top of the timesheets and eventually secured pole position for Race 2, which the championship determines using each driver’s second-fastest lap.

His second-best time of 1m30.400s placed him just 0.015 seconds ahead of Green and handed him not only his first GB4 pole position but also his first front-row start in the category.

The session therefore produced a closely fought battle between the championship’s leading contenders, with both drivers demonstrating impressive pace throughout the weekend.

Importantly, both Green and O’Grady capitalised on their Qualifying performances by converting pole position into race victories at Oulton Park.

Their success further strengthened their positions at the head of the championship standings while also underlining the significance of strong qualifying pace in the ultra-competitive GB4 field.

As part of the George Russell Pole Position Cup, each driver received a £150 prize and a trophy for securing pole position during the weekend.

Pole Position Cup continues to grow

The George Russell Pole Position Cup remains one of the championship’s major incentives across the season. The driver who secures the highest number of pole positions by the end of the campaign will receive the overall Pole Position Cup alongside an additional £1,000 prize.

Meanwhile, the team of the most successful qualifying driver will claim the David Poole Warren Pole Position Cup and a further £1,000 reward.

The awards continue to receive support from John Cavill, who has played a significant role in helping drivers across MotorSport Vision championships since 2013. Beyond that, he has also supported numerous competitors who later progressed to become established names in motorsport.
