As the 2026 FR Americas Championship (FRAC) season continues to gather pace, the championship heads to Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course for Round 3.
Following a dramatic second round at Road America, the title picture has begun to take shape. Evagoras Papasavvas now leads the standings after claiming his second victory of the season and adding a runner-up finish in Wisconsin. However, with Cooper Shipman, Christian Bogle and Brady Golan all firmly in the fight, Mid-Ohio could prove to be a decisive early marker in the championship battle.
2026 FRAC heads to Mid-Ohio for Round 3
This weekend’s event will take place at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, a 2.258-mile, 13-turn road course in Lexington, Ohio. The circuit, which runs clockwise, is one of the more technical venues on the calendar and is known for rewarding precision, rhythm and strong race management.
With the championship steadily approaching the halfway stage, the Mid-Ohio doubleheader comes at an important time. Drivers who began the season strongly will be aiming to consolidate their positions, while those who endured more difficult starts will be looking to prevent the leaders from building too much momentum.

Papasavvas takes control of the standings
Papasavvas arrives at Mid-Ohio with the championship lead after a strong showing at Road America. The Crosslink Motorsports driver claimed victory in Wisconsin, becoming one of the first repeat winners of the 2026 FRAC season.
His Road America weekend proved especially valuable because it combined both outright speed and consistency. Alongside his victory, Papasavvas added a runner-up finish, allowing him to move ahead of Shipman in the standings.
The Ohio round also carries added significance for Papasavvas. The Loveland native will compete just a few hours from home, giving him a local storyline as he looks to defend his championship lead on familiar ground.
Golan looks to turn wins into a title charge
Brady Golan also arrives at Mid-Ohio as a repeat winner in 2026. The Toney Driver Development driver joined Papasavvas in victory lane at Road America, giving him two wins from the opening part of the season.
However, Golan’s position in the standings tells a more complicated story. Despite becoming the first driver to record two victories this year, struggles in other races have left him fifth in the championship. Therefore, Mid-Ohio offers him an opportunity to convert race-winning speed into a more consistent title challenge.
With only two races on the schedule this weekend, mistakes could prove costly. For Golan, the priority will be to stay near the front across the full event, rather than relying solely on standout wins.
Shipman aiming to respond
Cooper Shipman entered Road America as one of the central figures in the championship battle, but Papasavvas’ strong weekend allowed the Crosslink driver to move ahead in the standings. Now, the Kiwi Motorsport rookie heads to Mid-Ohio looking to respond.
Shipman also arrives following a major personal milestone. Since the last FRAC round, he has graduated from iUniversity Prep, part of the Grapevine-Colleyville Independent School District. In the fall, he is set to attend Purdue University to study mechanical/motorsports engineering.
For now, however, his focus returns to the championship. With the season still in its early stages, Mid-Ohio gives Shipman a chance to reassert himself before the title fight begins to stretch out.
Bogle’s consistency keeps him in contention
While Papasavvas, Golan and Shipman have taken much of the attention at the front, Christian Bogle has quietly built one of the most consistent starts to the season.
Returning to FRAC for the first time since 2021, Bogle has finished inside the top six in every race so far. That consistency has placed the Pelican Energy Consultants / Toney Driver Development driver third in the standings heading into Mid-Ohio.
In a championship where several frontrunners have already experienced mixed weekends, Bogle’s reliability could become a major strength. If he can combine that consistency with podiums or victories, he may become an increasingly serious title threat.
Battle of the Buckeyes
Mid-Ohio will also bring a local rivalry to the forefront, with two Ohio drivers set to compete in the FRAC doubleheader.
Papasavvas, from Loveland, and Harbir Dass, from Solon, both arrive with home-state connections. Dass grew up around 90 minutes northeast of the circuit, while Papasavvas resides around two-and-a-half hours southeast of Mid-Ohio in the suburbs of Cincinnati.
For Dass, the weekend offers another opportunity to make progress with Kiwi Motorsport. For Papasavvas, it is a chance to defend the championship lead while racing in front of a more familiar crowd.
Graduates return to racing
Shipman is not the only FRAC driver to have recently completed school. Eric Wisniewski and Brady Golan also graduated since the series last competed at Road America.
Wisniewski received his diploma from Mason High School on May 31 and is set to study mechanical engineering at Michigan State University. Meanwhile, Golan graduated from the University of Texas High School on June 6 and will live on the University of Texas Austin campus while attending Austin Community College to study economics through a transfer program.
Now, the focus shifts from graduation stages back to race starts, as all three look to continue building momentum in the 2026 FRAC season.
Masters Cup battle continues
The Masters Cup fight will also continue at Mid-Ohio, with Whitney Strickland leading the way among FRAC drivers aged 35 and above.
Strickland has already claimed four Masters Cup wins this season. However, Kevin Janzen remains close behind after recording three runner-up finishes. Anthony Autiello, who won Round 3 at NOLA Motorsports Park earlier this season, continues to sit third in the Masters Cup standings.
With two more races on offer at Mid-Ohio, the class battle could tighten further as Janzen and Autiello attempt to reduce Strickland’s advantage.
Championship stakes remain high
Beyond the immediate race results, the championship itself carries significant rewards. At the end of the season, the FRAC champion will receive $100,000, while the vice champion will earn $20,000 and the third-place finisher will receive $10,000.
That prize structure adds further weight to each weekend, especially as the title contenders begin to establish themselves. With Papasavvas leading, Shipman chasing, Bogle staying consistent and Golan already proving he can win, the Mid-Ohio round could play an important role in shaping the next phase of the season.
Therefore, as FRAC arrives at Mid-Ohio for Round 3, the championship battle enters another important test. Papasavvas has the lead, Golan has the winning form, Shipman has the chance to respond, and Bogle remains firmly in the picture through consistency. With two races ahead, the 2026 FRAC title fight is set to continue taking shape in Ohio.
