The 2026 Formula Regional Americas Championship (FRAC) has a new leader following Round 2 at Road America, as Evagoras Papasavvas moved to the top of the drivers’ standings with 75.5 points.

After a weekend shaped by changing weather, a cancelled third race, and two different winners, Papasavvas emerged with the strongest overall championship position. His Race 1 runner-up finish and Race 2 victory allowed him to leap ahead of Cooper Shipman, who had led the standings after the opening round at NOLA.

Crucially, Papasavvas’ advantage reflects both outright speed and consistency. Across the opening five races of the season, he has already secured two wins, multiple podiums, and two poles, making him one of the early benchmarks in the title fight.

A reshuffled top five after Road America

Behind Papasavvas, Shipman remains second on 63 points. Although the Kiwi Motorsport driver entered Road America as the championship leader, a more difficult weekend limited his points return. His Race 2 penalty proved especially costly, as he dropped from third on the road to ninth in the official results.

Christian Bogle now sits third on 57.5 points, continuing a consistent start to the season for Toney Driver Development. While he has yet to claim a victory in 2026, Bogle’s ability to score steadily has kept him firmly inside the early championship battle.

Just behind him, Kekai Hauanio holds fourth on 56 points. The Crosslink Motorsports rookie strengthened his position with a second-place finish in the wet Race 2 at Road America, matching his best result of the season.

Meanwhile, Brady Golan completes the top five on 54.5 points. Although Golan became the first repeat winner of the season with victory in Race 1 at Road America, his Race 2 struggles limited his overall gain. As a result, only three points separate Bogle in third from Golan in fifth, keeping the battle behind Papasavvas extremely tight.

Midfield remains closely contested

Luke Powers occupies sixth on 45 points after another solid points-scoring weekend. His consistency has allowed him to remain within reach of the leading group, while also giving Toney Driver Development valuable support in the teams’ championship.

Further back, James Lawley holds seventh on 25 points for Atlantic Racing Team, while Barrett Wolfe follows in eighth on 21 points. Eric Wisniewski sits ninth on 17 points, narrowly ahead of Harbir Dass, who moved into the top 10 after securing his first FR Americas podium in Race 1 at Road America.

The lower half of the standings remains defined by rookies gaining experience and Masters Cup drivers collecting important points. Alejandro Bobadilla and Whitney Strickland are level on seven points, while Jonathan Cottrill follows on six.

Aidan Schuh sits 14th on three points after recording a career-best seventh-place finish at his home track in Race 2. Kevin Janzen follows on two points, while Anthony Autiello and Jake Pollack remain without points after the first two rounds.

Toney Driver Development retains Teams’ lead

In the Teams’ Championship, Toney Driver Development continues to lead with 138.5 points. The team added strongly to its total at Road America, helped by Golan’s Race 1 win and continued points from Bogle and Powers.

However, Crosslink Motorsports remains close behind on 131.5 points. Papasavvas’ Race 2 victory and Hauanio’s podium helped the team reduce the pressure at the front, while its depth across the driver line-up continues to keep it firmly in contention.

Kiwi Motorsport holds third on 78 points. Although Shipman and Dass both delivered important results during the weekend, the team lost ground to the top two after a more difficult second race.

Further back, Atlantic Racing Team sits fourth on 25 points, narrowly ahead of Hillenburg Motorsports on 24. Hillenburg’s total was helped by Whitney Strickland’s strong Masters Cup performances, including a sixth-place overall finish in Race 2 at Road America.

MLT Motorsports remains sixth on six points, while Momentum Motorsports is seventh on zero.

Road America tightens the championship fight

Overall, Road America significantly reshaped the early championship picture. Papasavvas now leads the drivers’ standings, but his advantage remains far from comfortable. Shipman, Bogle, Hauanio and Golan all remain within striking distance, ensuring the title fight stays wide open.

Moreover, the top five drivers are separated by just 21 points, despite the season already producing multiple winners, penalties, changing weather conditions and a cancelled race. That narrow margin suggests consistency will remain just as important as outright race-winning speed.

In the teams’ standings, Toney Driver Development still holds the advantage, but Crosslink Motorsports continues to apply pressure. With only seven points separating the top two teams, the championship battle is already developing into a close fight between two highly competitive programmes.

As the series moves beyond Road America, the early season narrative is clear. Papasavvas has seized momentum, Shipman must respond, and the chasing pack remains close enough to change the complexion of the championship at the next round.
