Racing Bulls clinched its fourth consecutive double-points finish at the 2026 F1 British GP, with Liam Lawson and Arvid Lindblad finishing P6 and P7 respectively.

Following the 2026 F1 British GP, Lawson reflected on the team’s consistent performance and shared that he is encouraged by the pace of his upgraded VCARB 03. The 24-year-old also believes that Racing Bulls now has the potential to match the speed of the top 4 cars.

Lawson sits in the Top 10 of the 2026 F1 Drivers’ Championship with 39 points to his name.

The 24-year-old placed himself P10 on the starting grid after a decent Qualifying session on Saturday. He pulled off a double-pass on both teammate Lindblad and Oscar Piastri, moving himself into P8 by turn 6 on the opening lap.

The New Zealander was later able to capitalise on incidents and problems to clinch a very valuable 6th.

Lawson shared that he was very happy with his performance at the 2026 F1 British GP, highlighting the second half of the race.

The 24-year-old also praised the team’s tyre management, an area Racing Bulls seemed to have improved in during the last two races.

“Yeah, no, it was a good race. It was good from start to finish, honestly. We had a good first lap and then, yeah, just the second half of our stints were really strong today. Also, our tyre management was really good. It has been for the last couple of weeks, which has been very positive.”

Development of the VCARB 03 is moving in the right direction

Following the 2026 F1 British GP, Racing Bulls now sits P6 in the Constructors’ Championship, one point behind their main rival in the midfield, Alpine.

While Racing Bulls has brought a total of three upgrade packages to its 2026 challenger this season, the breakthrough upgrades came at the F1 Canadian GP. The team had debuted a comprehensive new front wing and a redesigned underfloor diffuser.

The New Zealander’s impressive point-scoring streak also began in Montreal, where he had finished in P7. According to Lawson, the upgrades have allowed him to maximise his potential in his Racing Bulls as he can roll out strong each weekend with minimal tuning required.

He believes this also puts Racing Bulls closer in pace with the top 4 teams, with the likes of the sister team Red Bull, McLaren, Ferrari and Mercedes.

“Yeah, it’s been working very well recently. Everything we’ve brought to the car has been positive and working well. Each weekend we’ve been managing to find a little bit of lap time. I think the main thing as well is we’ve been starting really strong from P1 cars. We haven’t really had to change much, so it’s always been a little bit of fine-tuning. Overall, that’s made it a much faster race car.”

Racing Bulls has a solid 2026 challenger

While the team did bring an aerodynamic refinement package to the 2026 F1 British GP, Liam Lawson shared that it was just proof that Racing Bulls was improving in the right direction.

He added that his VCARB 03 was already very quick in race trim in Austria and did not require any major upgrades.

“It was pretty small this one, but again, it’s just all heading in the right direction. We already had a good car in Austria, so it’s just helping us build that even more. Everything we’ve been doing recently has been working very well.”
