VRD Racing’s Nikita Bedrin left the Hungaroring with more silverware after a record-breaking 2026 GB3 weekend, while Rodin Motorsport’s Martin Molnar gave the home crowd a major highlight with his first pole position in the championship.
Molnar and Bedrin shared the Jack Cavill Pole Position Cup prizes after topping the two Qualifying sessions. However, Bedrin also strengthened his wider championship momentum by winning both the Omologato One to Watch Award and the Sunoco Fastest Driver of the Weekend Award.
As a result, the Hungarian round underlined Bedrin’s form at the top of GB3, while also marking an important breakthrough for Molnar in front of his home supporters.
Molnar delights home crowd with maiden GB3 pole at the 2026 Hungaroring round
Molnar produced one of the standout moments of Saturday’s opening Qualifying session. Competing at home, the Rodin Motorsport driver claimed his first GB3 pole position with a 1m35.605s.
At the time, that lap also set a new GB3 Qualifying record at the Hungaroring. Molnar edged Hitech’s Deagen Fairclough by 0.076s, giving the local crowd a major result to celebrate.
The pole also added Molnar’s name to the 2026 Jack Cavill Pole Position Cup winners’ list, alongside Bedrin and Rodin team-mate Abbi Pulling.
Bedrin resets the benchmark in Qualifying 2
Bedrin then raised the standard again in the second Qualifying session. The VRD Racing driver stormed to his fourth pole of the season with a 1m34.601s, demolishing the previous GB3 lap record at the circuit.
His time put him more than two tenths clear of Fairclough on the Race 2 grid and almost three seconds beneath last year’s pole benchmark. Therefore, Bedrin not only secured another front-row advantage but also tightened his grip on the Jack Cavill Pole Position Cup standings.
Molnar and Bedrin each received £300 and a trophy from award founder John Cavill. The driver with the most poles at the end of the season will win the Jack Cavill Pole Position Cup and a £2,000 prize, while that driver’s team will also receive £2,000.

Bedrin secures third straight Omologato prize at the 2026 GB3 Hungaroring round
Bedrin also continued his dominant run in the Omologato One to Watch Award.
The award goes to the highest-scoring driver across the first two races of each GB3 event, and Bedrin claimed it for the third round in a row. He finished second in Race 1 to score 29 points, before winning Race 2 and adding another 35 points.
That 64-point haul matched his Spa-Francorchamps total and once again gave him the strongest return from the opening two races of the weekend. Consequently, Bedrin collected another prize timepiece from Omologato Watches, GB3’s Official Timing Partner.

Bedrin’s Race 2 victory also delivered another record. On his way to the win, he set a 1m37.028s, which became the fastest race lap of the weekend and a new GB3 race lap record at the Hungaroring.
That lap earned him the Sunoco Fastest Driver of the Weekend Award for the second consecutive event. Fairclough came closest with his 1m37.274s from Race 1, while Elite Motorsport’s Flynn Jackes set a 1m38.186s during his maiden GB3 victory in Race 3.

Bedrin extends awards momentum in Hungary
The Hungaroring weekend gave GB3 several major milestones. Molnar claimed his first pole at home, Jackes later took his maiden victory, and the series’ Qualifying and race lap records both fell.
However, Bedrin once again left with the biggest award haul. His pole, Race 2 win, record fastest lap and top-scoring weekend across the first two races reinforced his position as the benchmark driver of the 2026 season so far.
With four poles, three consecutive Omologato awards and back-to-back Sunoco honours, Bedrin now carries major momentum into the next phase of the GB3 campaign.
