Nikita Bedrin has tightened his grip on the 2026 GB3 Championship after a commanding third round at the Hungaroring, where he added another win and two further points finishes to move onto 222 points.

The VRD Racing driver now leads Maxim Rehm by 68 points, while Lucas Fluxá has climbed to third after a standout weekend for Xcel Motorsport. Rodin Motorsport has also edged ahead of VRD Racing in the Teams’ Championship, turning the title fight into an even tighter contest after the two teams arrived in Hungary level on points.

Drivers’ Championship: Bedrin extends advantage after fourth win of 2026

Bedrin arrived at the Hungaroring with a 27-point lead after Spa-Francorchamps and left with a much larger cushion. He finished second in Race 1, won Race 2, and then recovered from 12th to fifth in the reverse-grid Race 3.

His Race 2 win proved especially important. Bedrin passed Deagen Fairclough back at Turn 2 after losing the lead off the line, then controlled the race through multiple Safety Car periods to win by 2.042s.

That result, combined with Rehm’s Race 2 retirement and later Race 3 penalty, allowed Bedrin to stretch his advantage to 68 points. He now sits on 222, while Rehm remains second on 154.

Fluxá and Molnar close in after double podium weekends

Fluxá produced one of the strongest Hungaroring rounds in the field. The Xcel Motorsport driver finished fifth in Race 1, third in Race 2, and second in Race 3, lifting him to 144 points and third in the standings.

That moves him just three points ahead of Martin Molnar, who also enjoyed a strong home weekend. Molnar took pole for Race 1, finished fourth in the opener, then secured second in Race 2 before taking eighth in the reverse-grid finale.

As a result, Molnar now sits fourth on 141 points, only 13 points behind Rehm in second.

Jackes and Campbell-Pilling make major gains after Race 3 breakthroughs

Flynn Jackes finally claimed his maiden GB3 victory in Race 3, controlling the reverse-grid contest despite several Safety Car restarts. That result, combined with points in Race 1 and Race 2, lifted the Elite Motorsport driver to sixth on 88 points.

Rowan Campbell-Pilling also made a major move after being promoted to third in the updated Race 3 result. The Xcel Motorsport driver originally finished fourth, but Rehm’s penalty promoted him to his first GB3 podium. He now sits eighth on 85 points.

Deagen Fairclough remains 10th despite winning Race 1, as his difficult Sunday included retirements from Race 2 and Race 3. Kyuho Lee is level with him on 77 points but sits 11th.

Teams’ Championship: Rodin Motorsport edges ahead of VRD Racing

Rodin Motorsport and VRD Racing arrived at the Hungaroring level on 217 points after Spa-Francorchamps. However, Rodin’s depth across all three races allowed the team to move five points clear after Round 3.

Molnar’s Race 2 podium, Pulling’s fourth-place finish in Race 2, Rehm’s Race 1 podium and the team’s consistent scoring across the weekend gave Rodin a narrow advantage. VRD Racing still scored heavily through Bedrin, while Patricio Gonzalez and Rodrigo Gonzalez also added important points.

Consequently, Rodin now leads on 339 points, with VRD Racing second on 334.

Xcel closes on Hitech as Hillspeed climbs

Hitech remains third in the Teams’ Championship on 248 points, helped by Fairclough’s Race 1 victory and Jacob Micallef’s strong debut weekend.

However, Xcel Motorsport has closed the gap to just eight points after Fluxá’s two podiums and Campbell-Pilling’s Race 3 promotion. Xcel now sits fourth on 240 points.

Elite Motorsport remains fifth on 192 after Jackes’ breakthrough win, while Hillspeed has climbed to sixth on 118. Arden Motorsport follows on 109, ahead of Fortec Motorsports and Nitrous Competitions ADM Racing.

Conclusion: Bedrin clear, but Teams’ fight stays close

Hungaroring strengthened Bedrin’s position at the top of the Drivers’ Championship. With four wins from the opening eight races and a 68-point lead, the VRD Racing driver now has a clear advantage heading to the Red Bull Ring.

However, the Teams’ Championship remains far closer. Rodin Motorsport has moved ahead of VRD Racing, but only five points separate the two title contenders. Meanwhile, Xcel Motorsport’s Hungaroring surge has brought it closer to Hitech in the fight for third.
